Kenma groggily opened his eyes. His head was thundering. Again he felt the cold cloth on his forehead. His whole body was aching. He tried moving his fingers, but they were being held shut. His vision was still blurry, but he looked down on his hand.

Is that a hand?

"Kenma!" That voice. Suddenly Kenma felt more awake than ever. There at the side of his bed, on the floor, sat Kuroo, holding his hand. Kuroo's eyes were red and puffy. It was almost like he had been crying.

"How are you feeling?" Kuroo's face was screaming that he had been concerned. What exactly had happened?

"I-I don't know. Everything hurts." Kenma looked away. Kuroo was not letting go of his hand. Kenma could feel his cheeks starting to burn.

"What are you doing here?" Kenma mumbled. Kuroo's hand was shaky.

"Are you really asking me that? You expect me to get a text out of nowhere asking for help, and not come running?" His voice was getting shaky too.

Did I text him? I can't remember. Kuroo sighed. It sounded like a mix of exhaustion and relief.

"Do you remember why you collapsed?" Kenma looked over to the floor.

So I ended up passing out for real. Kenma patted his head, trying to feel for any bumps from falling. The last thing he needed was a concussion on top of all this.

"I don't know what it was. I remember vividly that my body started burning, and I couldn't breathe." Kuroo was still not letting go of his hand. It felt like he was holding it even tighter. It felt like Kenma's cheeks were burning up. Kuroo had his head down in Kenma's mattress, mumbling something.

"I can't hear you when you talk into the mattress." Kenma was squeezing Kuroo's hand lightly.

Did he really come running for me? Kuroo lifted his head slightly, enough for his voice to be heard.

"I should've been there for you", he mumbled, before laying his face back into the mattress. His voice seemed hoarse.

Is he crying? A soft "I am sorry" escaped from the mattress. Kenma felt a sting in his chest.

This isn't your fault.

"I am the one who should apologise. It's my fault we got this distance." His hands were shaking. But Kuroo tightened his grip even more. Kuroo tilted his head, making eye contact with Kenma.

"I shouldn't have let you." Kenma could feel his heart racing. He had never seen Kuroo with such a serious face before. There were traces of some tears underneath his eyes.

He cares this much? Kenma looked down to the floor.

"I am sorry, Kuroo." He bit the inside of his lips, trying to not start crying. Kuroo chuckled nervously.

"At least you are talking to me again." Kenma glanced up at him, confused.

"Avoiding me, volunteering to practice with Lev of all people? You even managed to get sick, which probably helped you a lot. It really hurt. But I am so happy you texted me when you really needed it." Kenma couldn't hold it in anymore. The tears started flowing. Kuroo looked shocked for a second, before embracing him.

"If you think for a second that you can get rid of me like this, you are dead wrong."

Kenma had fallen asleep in Kuroo's lap. Kuroo's heart was racing, and he couldn't tell if it was because of the scare, or if it was the usual confusion he had to deal with. He could still feel the warmth of Kenma's hand in his own. His whole body had felt warm. He was carefully sliding his fingers through Kenma's hair.

There the feeling was again. This was how it was supposed to feel. Comfortable, warm, natural. Kuroo had tried hiding it. Tried denying it.

This isn't natural. But the answer had been right there.

I like him. He looked down at Kenma.

He looks cute when he sleeps. Suddenly his phone started buzzing in his pocket. Carefully, to not wake up Kenma, Kuroo reached for his phone. It was a text from his girlfriend.

Shit.

-I hope the emergency was taken care of! See you before school tomorrow.

Kuroo felt a huge lump form in his throat. Because Kenma's distancing, he had never had the opportunity to tell him about his new girlfriend. Or had he not wanted to tell him? Kenma dug himself further into Kuroo's lap.

You are making this more difficult, Kenma. Unfair. Kenma was still fast asleep. Kuroo tried moving Kenma slowly, so that he could also lay down. As soon as he had managed that, Kenma buried his face into Kuroo's chest.

This feels right. He held Kenma tight before he drifted into sleep.

The alarm was ringing. Kuroo tried reaching for his phone, but Kenma was holding him tight. Kuroo stretched out a little to reach his phone without moving too much. After checking the time, he realised he had to hurry to not make his girlfriend wait too long. He looked down at Kenma, who was still clinging to him, his head buried in Kuroo's chest.

How cute. With minimal movement, he managed to get out of the bed. Kenma curved himself into a ball, scrunching his nose as he made himself comfortable. Kuroo started gathering his things. As he reached for his bag, he saw one of his sweaters laying underneath it. Kuroo walked over to the bed and put his sweater around Kenma. Kenma started rolling himself in the sweater. Kuroo couldn't help but smile as he walked out the room. Walking down the stairs, he kept fiddling with his hair. It felt like he had extra bedhead. A quick glance in the hallway mirror revealed his uniform was all wrinkly.

That's what I get for sleeping in it. He tried straightening it as best as he could before walking outside. As he had gotten out and was locking the door, he stopped before letting go of the handle.

What the fuck am I supposed to do now?
