Kuroo was waiting for his girlfriend by their usual meeting spot. His gaze kept wandering over to Kenma's house.
Is he still sleeping? He checked his phone. If she wasn't showing soon, Kuroo had to just go without her to be in time for practice. As he was starting to walk, he heard someone running behind him.
"I'm sorry I am late!" his girlfriend exclaimed, trying to catch her breath.
"No, it's no worries. You don't have to force yourself to get up this early, really." Kuroo answered, giving her some more time to catch her breath. As her breath had gotten more stabilised, she started walking, Kuroo following lead.
"But I want to walk with you to school, so it's not a hassle", she said as she yawned, turning it into a smile. As they kept walking, Kuroo kept thinking about how Kenma was doing.
Is he still feeling sick? Has he woken up yet? Is he going to eat at all?
"How did it go with the emergency yesterday?" She asked, snapping him out of his thoughts.
"Oh, it got sorted out, so everything is okay." Her smile grew even bigger.
"Really? I am so happy to hear! You seemed so scared when you ran off, I got worried." Kuroo scratched his hair, laughing nervously.
"Yeah, sorry about just running off like that." He could feel her walking closer to him.
"Nothing to apologise for. An emergency is an emergency. I am just happy it got sorted." They kept walking. She was talking about which homework she could do while waiting for school to start. Each step they took, Kuroo felt like she slowly kept walking on closer to him. Kenma always used to walk that close, only to be able to play his games while walking.
"Hey, your tie is all wrinkly!" she said giggly. She reached out her arm to fix it, but Kuroo instinctively backed up. They both stopped in their tracks, an awkward silence falling upon them.
"I'm- I'm sorry. I'll fix it." Kuroo said nervously as he started fiddling with his tie. He took a quick glance at his phone before he picked up his pace again. Only a couple of minutes until he was late. She followed lead, this time keeping her distance. They walked in silence until they reached the school gates.
"I got to run, I'm sorry!" Kuroo said as he was heading towards the clubroom. She stopped up by the gates and gave him a quick wave, looking after him as he was running away.
