Chapter 1: Any Old Day; With A Twist

It was any old day. I get up, get dressed, eat breakfast, brush my teeth, and go outside to find Kaneki outside waiting for me on the steps. I ruffle his black hair and we start walking to school.

"So," I said. "Any luck in finding a girlfriend." Kaneki just blushed and shook his head.

"No." I felt bad for this nerd. I don't think he'll ever get a girl if he keeps being the shy little boy that I've known for years know. He's turning 18 in two days, and he hasn't kissed one girl yet. Well, except for me, but that kiss probably didn't mean anything to him like it did for me. And anyways, that was like ten years ago, we're over that now.

"Hey, you'll get a girl eventually. I mean, how could you not? With you're 'excellent' talking skills-"

"Hey now, I'm not that anti-social!"

I rolled my eyes and chuckled. "Kaneki," I said, and I put my hand on his shoulder. "You have two friends, man, two. Hide, and myself."

"So what do you want for your birthday? My mom keeps annoying me about how I should get you a stupid present, so what?" Kaneki was silent for a little, and then he started blushing furiously. What's wrong with this nerd?

"A- I want a-" I was getting impatient.

"You want a what?" Kaneki looked at me and finally said, " I want a kiss." It was the quietest whisper I've ever heard in my life, but I still heard it. I stopped walking and I stood completely still. The wind blew threw Kaneki's perfect black hair, and I looked at him in a way I've never looked at him before. I found him quite attractive this time.

"A kiss?" I asked. "Fr-from who?"

"You."

He answered immediately, with no hesitation. "Kaneki I-" and I was interrupted by his lips being pressed against mine. It was long and passionate. When he pulled back, I gasped for air. For the kiss, of course, was breathtaking.
