The alarm screamed in my ear as it hit 6:30 AM. I got up and got dressed so fast, one would think I was late to school. Kaneki wasn't going to come pick me up until 6 PM, but since I was so excited, I couldn't wait.
It reminded me of a day a few years back. It was summer, and it was the perfect weather to go to the beach. Kankei had invited me yesterday to go to the beach with him, and my mother allowed it. I set the very same alarm that I had now, one with Totoro with a little leaf on his head, to 5 in the morning since I couldn't wait any longer.
Kaneki was coming to my house at around 7 AM, but I wanted to watch more Naruto. I remember watching two episodes and a half when I heard the code knock. It was five kncoks, wait five seconds, and then two knocks. That's how Kaneki and I knew it was us.
I smiled and ran down the stairs to open the door. "Hi (Y/N)!! Ready?" Kaneki smiled at me. The summer breeze blew through his black hair.
"Coming! I'm coming, just getting the food, sorry for the wait kids!" My mother yelled from kitchen. She came hurriedly down the hall with about five million bags and we got in the car.
We got off as soon as my mother stopped the car and ran to the water. The weather made the day perfect. Aside from being with Kaneki at the beach.
I looked at him, and he looked at me. We grabbed each other's hands and ran for the water. That feeling of running free with someone beside me is my favorite feeling. I wanted to relive this day over and over, up until now.
What if tonight we run free together?
