(Your POV)

My eyes widened. "They have him?" Doubt was still choking me. It wasn't possible. It's too good to be true. Gaby smiled and nodded. She was actually smiling. A smile which was real. That means she isn't lying. She isn't giving me false hope.

Kaneki is alive. Alive and safe at last. "He's here, in the hospital." She said. I got out of my bed. "I need to go see him." Sliding my feet into the slippers, I stood up. But Gaby put her hands on my shoulders. "He's in surgery right now, sorry. He has multiple internal injuries, as well as external. There's at least five doctors working on him right now." I panicked a little.

"But. . won't people find out about his case? Aren't they going to kill him?" My heart started to race. "Are they trying to kill him in surgery!?" Gaby chuckled quietly. "No. No they're not. Everyone on his case already knows what has happened. We've found donors, and they're turning him back into human. A-k-a fixing my mistakes." She reassured me.

I sat back down onto my bed and relaxed. He'll be happy again, I thought, he's not going to suffer anymore. My eyes started to tear up. "He's going to be okay, (Y/N)." He's going to be okay. I broke into tears. I was so happy. Happy to be able to see Kaneki happy. Gaby wrapped her arms around me and I could hear her sniffle a few times.

"I would never make a promise I can't keep, (Y/N)."

Nurse Lopez POV

"Okay, we're almost done here." One of the doctors said. I was surprised they'd let me in on this surgery. Me being only a nurse. This is still a great chance. Even though all I'm doing is handing tools to the doctors.

Kaneki is in good hands. No one here is a traitor. No one here will "accidentally" cut anything. He's safe. I stayed by Kaneki's head throughout the whole surgery whenever I had the chance. "Don't worry," I would whisper in his ear, "You'll be ok." His white hair was dying down back to black.

I saw his ghoul eye being removed and it was replaced by a donor's eye. They looked exactly the same. A smile spread across my face thinking about how Kaneki would react to having yet another person's eye in him. But my smile disappeared soon after.

Would he be the same person after seeing everything that has happened in front of him? And he's killed over two dozen soldiers. How does one live with that burden on their shoulders? There's a chance that Kaneki is going to need a lot of therapy to try and help him at least a little.

"Nice work everyone. Now let's close him up and get out of here." Another doctor said. My smile reappeared. He'll be okay, I thought. It's Kaneki. He's strong.
