Kaneki's POV

It was nightfall, and time for war. Everyone of Aogiri tree was getting prepared, and group by group, they started leaving.

"Kaneki, let's go." Ayato called after me. I didn't want to do this. I looked down at my body dressed in black, and my mask got in my way. It was irritating me. It was itchy, and I wanted to take it off.

"Kaneki. Come on, we have to go." Ayato said again. He walked next to me and grabbed my arm and pulled it. "Let's go." His voice got higher. His patience was running out. But he had no right to touch me.

I clenched my fist and pulled my arm away. "No." I said. I didn't want to kill anyone anymore. I was sick of it. "Stop being fucking stupid and let's go, asshole." He grabbed my hair and pulled me down to arms and knees.

Resting myself upon my elbows, I started to get up. Suddenly, Ayato kicked me in the stomach. I clenched my teeth and didn't make a sound. "You. Need. To. Learn. How. To listen. Whitehead." He said through his gritted teeth, kicking me after each word.

I didn't say anything, and kept quiet, keeping all the sounds inside of me. "Now get up and let's go." Ayato harshly pulled me up to my feet again by my hair. He pushed me foward. "We're heading to the city, come on." He started running and jumped out a window of the abandoned building.

I followed suit, and landed on my feet. A small pain shot up my leg but I shrugged it off and continued running. (Y/N)'s face appeared in my mind, and she was smiling. She was smiling that beautiful smile of hers, she was happy. I wanted her to stay that way; but how could that smile still be there after all the bullshit I've done to hurt her.

Something wet slipped down my cheek, and not being sure what it was, I wiped it off. But it kept coming down, and I felt my eyes starting to slightly burn. What the hell? I thought. Trying to ignore it, I continued running but slowed down after a little, confused on what was happening to my eyes.

Ayato looked back at me and saw what was happening to me. "Stop being a little fucking girl and stop crying." He stopped running and stood in front of me. Not realizing what was happening, I forgot to stop running and almost crashed with Ayato. But his fist stopped me.

I saw it heading for my face but dodged it. "You're slowing us down, Kaneki. Don't be so hurt after I barely touched you." Irritated, I said, "I'm not crying." He laughed. "Oh yeah? Then what the fuck is this?" He roughly dragged his thumb across my cheek.

"This is a tear, isn't it?" Ayato stuck his thumb in front of my eye. I stared at it for a long time. Ayato sighed and shook his head. "We don't have time for this, Whitehead." And with that he turned around and started running through the shadows of the streets.

Reluctantly, I followed him. Crying?

--Time Skip--

Another soilder fell before me. I'm sorry. I thought. About seventy sorrys' have been said by me. Every time someone falls before me, I say it. My throat burned all of a sudden. I felt something come up.

I ran away and reached a deserted place. Then it came out. My vomit. And it wouldn't stop. My stomach felt weak. My legs felt weak. Everything felt weak. I collapsed to my knees and hands.

Tears started coming out. The vomiting stopped, and now it was pure tears. I screamed out (Y/N)'s name. I wanted to see her at least one last time. My breaths were getting shorter, and my cries were getting louder. I couldn't breath.

I couldn't breath without (Y/N) by my side. "Kaneki!" I heard my name. "Kaneki!" The noise was getting closer. I turned around, and my eyes widened. "(Y/N)?" I stood up. A little girl smiled at me. "Come on! Let's go to the park Kaneki!" She grabbed my hand and started walking with me.

"Kaneki!" I heard a little boys voice. Looking behind me, I saw Hide. He laughed and ran to me, grabbing my other free hand. "Let's go to the park!" He said, pointing forward. A really bright light burned my eyes, but I couldn't look away.

My body felt enlightened, I felt better. My legs regained strength, my throat didn't burn, I felt better. And I wanted it to stay this way. Step after step, I got closer to the bright light.

But all of a sudden, I heard a very faint cry. "-neki. .!" I listened closer. "-Kaneki!" It was a distressed voice. A recognized voice. Letting go of (Y/N)'s and Hide's small hands, I turned around. The two comtinued laughing and skipping together away, and disapeared into the bright light.

The light slowly started to fade away, and I felt the pain come back. My knees fell to the soft, white ground again. I groaned and felt my stomach get weak again. "Kaneki!" The sound was right in my ear. Shutting my eyes tight, I tried to recognize the voice.

"Kaneki-kun!" My eyes opened slowly. Touka? Pressure was forming up against my stomach, and the world was upside down. A girl bent down and lifted up her mask. It was Touka. "It's ok, Kaneki. Yomo and I will take you out of here, it's ok." Those were the last words she said to me before I blacked out.

I'm safe.
