Your POV
"Hey mom." I said trying to keep calm. She looked up from her cut up vegetables cooking in a pan.
My father was sitting at the table on his phone talking with his work friends. My mom took a wooden spoon and moved around the vegetables.
I didn't know how to tell her that there was going to be a war right here in Tokyo. A war that's about ghouls and humans. And I didn't know how to tell her that my boyfriend who disappeared a year ago was now a ghoul.
But you know, same ol' same ol'. If I were going to tell her about it, it would have to be now. My dad is always at work so I rarely see him.
I also had to tell them to keep this a secret from everyone, or else people will think that we're crazy and lock us up in jail for freaking out the whole city.
My dad got off the phone. It was time for me to tell them the truth. My mom picked up a plate and turned around to walk to the table.
"Mom?" She stopped in her tracks and looked back at me with a smile. Dad looked up as well.
I explained the whole situation, and we lost a plate during that. She dropped it when I said "war". I had explained everything from beginning to end.
Mom went completely stiff. "Mom. Hey, okay, come here." I said with a soft voice. I led her to a chair at the table. I looked over to my dad, who was in complete shock.
He completely ignored his phone when it rang beside his hand on the table.
It felt like everyone froze and all of Japan froze and the whole world froze. I didn't know what to do. "Mom? Dad?" I looked back and forth between the two.
Mom's eyes fill up with tears and she finally looked up at her husband. "We've got to tell people." She said in a whisper.
"Mom no. We can't! Everyone will call us liars and lock us up or something. We can't let that happen. Trust me! Remember when I told you about the people at Antieku? And how they're ghouls?
"They're good, and we have to trust them. They said that the police will evacuate everyone. So just please," I got down on my knees " please trust them."
I placed my hands on her knees as she looked down at me. "Please?" She placed a hand softly on my cheek. Mom stared at me for a while.
Tears slipped down her cheeks. "Ok." I sighed. "Thank you." I got up and stared at Dad. He nodded as well. "Thank you so much."
I went over to hug him. "We should leave now then, shouldn't we?" He said.
"Yeah." I pulled away. "We still have two days though, so we have time. Where should we stay?"
My father looked at my mother. She shrugged. "How about a hotel just outside of Tokyo?"
"Do we really have enough money for that?" My mother said. Dad stood there, thoughtfully.
"We could just hide in the basement." I recommended. My dad looked back at me. "Alright." He nodded. "In two days time, we will be hiding out down there. How long will it last?"
"Um. . . I'm not quite sure. Yoshimura, Anteiku's manager, said that if they're lucky, it will end that very night."
He nodded. "Ok."
Doctor Gabriella Diaz POV
"No! Hide please no!" I broke down into tears as soon as I found out that my son was fighting against ghouls.
"You can't leave me! I won't loose another one!" I knelt down before him and held onto his shirt.
"My baby!" I screamed. My niece opened her door. "Gaby? What's wrong?!" Antonia looked from her room. "Your cousin is leaving us for war!"
She looked up at Hide. "What?" She whispered. He pulled me up. "Mom. Listen to me. Hey!" I kept crying but a little more quiet now.
"Listen!" He shook me slightly. I muted my sobs and looked straight at him. "Mom, this is for Kaneki. I'm doing this for him and you and everyone in Tokyo.
"They need us. Especially now." I grabbed his collar and sobbed into the crook of his neck. "You. . . can't. . . leave. . . me. . ." I said between sobs.
My son wrapped his arms around me. "It will all be ok." I exhaled and inhaled for a few moments. "This is all my fault. I've created another ghoul. I'm the reason your going out there and risking your life."
I looked back at my niece, who was my other experiment. I reached out a hand towards her, and she came over. I pulled her into a tight hug as well with Hide.
"Hide." Antonia sniffled. "Be safe, okay?" She gave him a smile. He returned one and then let me go. "Goodbye, Mom." He picked up his bag and walked out into the snowing, dark night.
I ran after him but fell to my knees in the snow. He got in a black car that awaited for him, and then he was gone.
"No. No! No, no, no, no! HIDE STAY! NO PLEASE NO!!!" I couldn't calm myself. I didn't want to loose another child.
Antonia kneeled beside me and silently sobbed for her cousin.
Hide POV
I'm sorry, Mom. I won't be coming back home, I won't make it.
I looked outside the tainted window and saw my mother on the floor, crying. I couldn't handle it anymore, and I looked away.As we drove off, a random solider and I, I looked outside the window again and took in a last look at my neighborhood, which I had lived in since forever.
I thought about my younger sister, who had died five years back. I really missed Akane Nagachika. We both took our father's last name, since Mom chose the first names.
"It was a fair trade." I remember my father saying as we sat at the kitchen table. Mom wasn't usually there, since she was a doctor and worked almost full-time.
I sat next to Akane, and Antonia sat across from us.
I miss the good times. With my family. With Kaneki. This war, I promised myself, will get him back.
