Your POV
The door opened and in walked Gaby, with a silver object under her arm. "Hello." I greeted. "Hi, (Y/N)." She said with a smile. Still a fake smile.
Gaby walked up to me and set down the silver object in my lap. A laptop. "I thought you'd be bored, so I brought you my laptop. You know, to pass time."
I pulled the laptop closer to me and opened it up. "Thank you so much, this means a lot." I said. I turned it on and saw that I needed a password.
"Oh, yeah. The password is h, a, a, fifteen. All capitals." She said. I looked up at her. "Weird, I know." She chuckled. "Does it stand for something?" I asked. I had an idea, but I wanted to know.
"Mhm. H stands for Hide, a stands for Akane, and the last a for Antonia. My three loved ones. And fifteen because that's when I first met their father."
"Where is he now?" I asked. My mother's words replayed in my head. (Y/N), there are certain things you don't ask people!
"We divorced not too long ago. Hide and Antonia were devastated, but so was I.""If I stayed with him, fights would become more aggressive, which would've brought Hide and Antonia down. It would've brought me down, and I need to stay strong for the two." She ran her fingers through her hair.
"Alright well, I'll leave you alone." Gaby turned around and started walking away. But I still had questions. "What happened to your daughter? Akane?" I asked, and she stopped in her tracks.
Gaby turned back around and her face was gloomy. "She passed away five years ago. She was 12." She looked up from the ground and looked at me. "Would you like to know what happened?"
I thought about it for a moment. Maybe it's better not to know some things. It can be hard very difficult on a person to recall a horrible past. Although sometimes it can be good to get it off your chest.
"Do you want to tell me? Don't let me force you." I asked. She gave a soft smile, a real one, and she sat back down. "I'll tell you. But only if you tell me about Kaneki. I've only seen him a few times when he was young, because Hide always played with him, but I want funny stories that occurred between the three of you." She said.
I realized that I hadn't told her anything about me or Kaneki, so I agreed. "Okay." I said. She sighed and cleared her throat. "Well, uh, they wanted to go to a park; Akane and Hide. One that's really close by our home."
Her voice got shaky. "And it was just barely raining; only a few drops of water were falling, so of course I let them go. They were extremely bored." She twiddled with her thumbs.
"I should've gone with them. . " I heard her mumble. "The park was right across the street, and they went there everyday. I watch them as they cross the street. . But then I hear someone start honking their car horn. Hide was just a few steps ahead of Akane."
Tears started falling down her face, and there was pain in her eyes. "He. .he turns around, wide-eyed, and looks at Akane. She was looking straight ahead to the incoming out-of-control car, and she froze. . ."
Doctor Gabriella Diaz POV
I darted to the door and ran outside, but I was too late. The person in the car had pushed on the brakes, making the car spin uncontrolably.
The car door flew open and hit Akane in the head. That was the end for her. Hide ran to the other side and tripped on the curb. "Akane!" I screamed. I couldn't breathe. "Akane. ." I gasped out betweeen tears. Hide ran back to her limp body, and kneeled down.
I ran over to him and grabbed him. "Don't look, Hide. . ." I cupped my hand over his eyes and he started to cry. "Akane!" He sobbed.
My husband came out and ran to us. He cupped his hand over his mouth and tears streamed down his eyes. "No. . no my little girl." He looked down at her limp body.
He dialed the ambulance even though there was no point. Akane's face looked peaceful, and it was almost like she was only sleeping. I picked up Hide off my lap and set him aside.
"Let's get her inside." I said quietly. I picked up her small body and walked inside, to wait for the ambulance.
The funeral was held the next day.
Your POV
I placed my hand on Gaby's lap and stroked it. I didn't say anything; there was no need to. "Thank you, (Y/N), for listening." She said. "I'll leave you alone now." Gaby got up and headed for the door.
"Wait, didn't you want to hear stories of our childhood?" I asked her. "We'll save that for another time." She said without turning around.
"Okay." I said, and she closed the door. I typed in the password into the lap top and went straight to Google to search up facts on ghouls.
At the top of the page there was a link to an article about an upcoming war. My eyes widened. "It's viral already?" I asked no one.
I was afraid to click on it, but in the end I did. There were two pictures at the top that had all the soldiers who were going to be in this war. Under them, was a giant list of names.
I scrolled down, and my heart sank. Hideyoshi Nagachika was listed. I already knew it had happened, but I still didn't want to believe it.
I sighed and rested my head in my left hand. How did it become this way? Everything was perfect. I was able to see Kaneki.
I didn't want to live anymore. I was tired of all the crap that has happened to me, Kaneki, and Hide and his family. It was time to end it. I searched around and found syringes with needles in one of the medical cabinets. I took one and held it in my hand.
The needle looked perfectly sharp. I took off the wraper and held it far away, aiming for my heart. I took in a deep breath and went for it.
Just then I heard the door open and I stopped in my tracks, the needle just a centimeter away from my chest. "(Y/N)!" Gaby dropped my tray of food and ran to me.
She ripped the needle out of my hand and threw it to the ground. "What are you doing!?" Gaby screamed at me and pulled me into her arms.
"Don't do it!" I heard the sobs in her voice. "It will all get better, I promise!" She said. This got me mad and I also started to cry.
"Don't make promises you can't keep!" I screamed at her. I pulled away from her hug. "How the hell do you know that this will get better!? You started this whole fucking thing! You turned Kaneki into what he is now! You should've just let him die!" I gasped after I said that.
Gaby's eyes were wide, and tears kept coming. She closed her eyes and breathed in deeply. She opened one of the cabinets and took out a bag and put all the syringes in there, including the one on the floor.
Antonia came in and looked at the tray of food on the floor then up at us two. "What happened?" She asked. "Can you please clean up the food, sweetheart?" Gaby asked her. Antonia nodded her head and gathered everything on the tray and walked out with Gaby.
A little later a different nurse camd in to clean up the rest. I sat down on the bed and calmed down.
What was I thinking?
