Chapter 9: I Miss You

Kaneki's POV

I slowly open my eyes.

The light that shined through a window next to me burned my eyes, and I closed them again.

Where was I? I open my eyes again, and check my surroundings.

I'm in a hospital. Why? I sat there thinking about what happened to me, and I suddenly remember.

Oh my god. I killed a woman. No, a ghoul. But she attacked me first. It was my right to fight back.

But did I actually kill her? I don't quite remember. I sit up in my bed and find a tray of food hovering over me.

Good, I thought, I'm starving. I grab the fork and cut off a piece of the salmon and eat it. It tasted disgusting.

I spit it back out. My God, who cooked this? I look forward and see a mirror. My eyes widened. My eye...

I get out of bed and get closer to the mirror. I couldn't believe it. I'm a ghoul. I fell before the mirror, crying.

The first person that came to my mind was (Y/N). What was she going to think of me? I couldn't face her anymore like this.

I heard the door open behind the curtain. "Mr. Kaneki Ken?" The nurse asked. I hurried back to my bed and pulled the covers over me. The nurse pushed the curtain aside and stood beside me. "Mr. Kankei, aren't you going to eat?" I didn't answer her.

"Mr.Kaneki, you don't have to hide yourself, I already know about your whole situation." She pulled the covers off of me. She sat beside me. "Is there anyone you want me to call?" She asked me. I sat up and looked at her name tag.

Antonia Lopez. I looked back up at her and shook my head.

"Mr.Kaneki, there is no shame in calling for loved ones when needed."

"Leave him alone, Nurse Lopez. It will take time for him to recover from this horrible incident." A woman in a white coat said.

"Hello, my name is Gabriella Diaz, but you can call me Gaby. I'm the one who performed the surgery on you." She looked back at the nurse. "You are excused, Nurse Lopez." She nodded her head slightly. "Thank you, Dr.Diaz." And she exited the room.

My doctor sat at the foot of the bed and rested her hands in her lap. She had very short hair and she was very tall.

"Kaneki, I understand that you are panicking right now. I would be too if this happened to me. But let me explain this whole situation to you." I nodded and listened to her.

Gaby cleared her throat. "From what your mother told me, she found you lying on the porch, next to a woman with purple hair. This woman was a ghoul-"

"Rize." I said. The doctor looked at me with confusion. "That was her name. Rize." She nodded. "I'll keep that in mind so I can tell the police later." She continued with the story. "As soon as your mother saw you she called the ambulance. They brought both you and Rize to the hospital, but she was already dead." I grew sick to my stomach, and I wanted to throw up.

My doctor saw this and she quickly grabbed a tub that was under the bed and put it before me.

I threw up. "Do want me to continue some other time?" Gaby asked when I was done. I shook my head. "No," I said. "I need to know what happened."

She pressed a button next to my bed that called a nurse. "Yes Dr.Diaz?" The nurse from before walked in.

"Take this, Nurse Lopez, and bring in a new one please." The nurse nodded and headed out the door quickly.

"Now, where was I?" Gaby asked me. "We were brought to the hospital." "Ah yes. Alright, so Rize was found dead, but we still had a chance to save you. But the problem with your eye was that too much blood got into it, so you went blind in that one. And, Rize had started ripping you apart. So many of your organs were almost gone or complete disasters."

"So, we took some of Rize's organs, and implanted them into you." She paused for a minute while Nurse Lopez walked in and placed the bucket under the bed and head out.

"You are now part ghoul. You will have to feed off of humans. And the only thing that can keep you from starving for a little while is coffee." She quickly grabbed the bucket and placed it before me again.

"How come you don't mind being next to a ghoul?" I asked five minutes later. "Because I created you."

A few minutes later she left the room because she had other patients to attend.

"You will be released in a few weeks, until then, get enough rest." She said before she left the room.

I turned to my side and thought about (Y/N). I miss you, (Y/N).
