I Won't Let You Down:Ken Kaneki x Reader

Prologue

"(Y/N)! Kaneki is here!" I could hear my mother's voice from the kitchen. Oh no, it's him. Something hit my window from outside. Curious, I got up to see what it was. I open my window and look down, only to find no one other than Kaneki, holding a handful of pebbles in his small, 8 year old hands.

"Come outside and play, (Y/N)!" He called to me. I rolled my eyes at the sound of his voice. "Leave me alone, Kaneki! I wanna watch Naruto!" And with that, I shut the window. When I turned around to go back to my bed, I heard a louder bang than before. Just leave me alone!

"(Y/N), go outside and play this instant! Do you know how rude it is to leave people waiting outside for you? If you don't get down here by the time I count to 10, you're grounded." My mom screamed throughout the house. Is she being serious?

Without wanting to argue, I slipped on my shoes and ran down stairs and out the door. Kaneki greeted me with his dorky smile of his, and I silently waved back.

"Want to go to the playground, (Y/N)?" He asked. "Sure." I answered. We walked across the street and ran straight to the playground, where we reached the swings and sat on them.

It was cold outside, and snowing just a bit. "I really love the snow. Don't you?" I asked him. He looked at me a bit confused. "What does love mean?" He asked. I thought about it for a second.

"Well, my parents kiss eachother and they say 'I love you', so maybe it's that? Although, my parents say it to me too."

"Want to find out?" Kaneki questioned. He seemed kind of hesitant on asking me, probably thinking I'd say no. We looked at eachother for a bit, until I finally nodded. A small smile appeared on his face.

I moved my body so I was facing him, and kissed him on the cheek. He pulled back, embarrassed, but then quickly kissed my cheek back.

By now, we were both blushing messes. We both looked at the ground, not knowing what to do. "So," he finally spoke up, "what does this really mean?" I looked at him.

"I'm not sure."

Yo, sorry this ended in a crappy way, but I just wrote this really quickly because this chapter got deleted when I published the first two chapters a while ago.

It took a long time for me to start rewriting it again because I just wasn't feeling it, ya know?

But it was finally time for me to do it, because it's necessary for the next chapter. Well anyways, thanks for reading.
