KHALI‘S POV
I boredly stared at Ashley, sitting across me while busy doing her work. I sipped from my milktea as I watch her getting stressed out of it. Napatingin siya sa akin at binigyan niya ako ng mataray na tingin.
Lagi siyang ganiyan, basta magkakatinginan kami. I don‘t really care, stares can‘t kill anyways and she doesn‘t feel really offensive. Medyo nakakatawa siya, actually.
Tinignan ko ang cover page niya kung saan nakasulat ang pangalan niya.
Ashley Tan...
I just recently realized about this.
Kaya pala parang familiar noong narinig ko ‘yung pangalan ni Saber Tan, si Ashley rin pala ay Tan.
Maliit lang ang mundo ng mga mararangyang katulad nila. It‘s not impossible to think na may connection sila sa isa‘t isa.
Well, okay lang namam rin kung wala. Sisiguruhin ko na may malalaman parin ako tungkol sa taong ‘yun.
“Hey, do you have a relative called Saber Tan?” deretsahan kong tanong.
Tumigil siya sa pagsusulat at tumingin sa akin.
“He‘s my cousin, why?” tila iritado niyang tanong.
They‘re cousins? So, that means she knows something between Saber and Kangaroo?
“Do you know... how Saber Tan and the King is related?” tanong ko habang matiim na naghihintay sa sagot niya.
“They‘re more like... childhood friends, I guess...” sabi niya.
I wasn‘t expecting that. Them? Childhood friends? Parang hindi nga sila magkasundo.
Kangaroo seems like he isn‘t happy that he is here. Meanwhile, Saber Tan feels like he is trying to ruin Kangaroo.
By the way... “Edi pati ikaw childhood friend ng hari?” tanong ko.
Hindi niya nabanggit sa akin iyon... Psh.
“Well, you could say that...” she said and raised her chin awkwardly.
“Really?” I asked.
Bakit lahat sila matagal nang kilala si Kangaroo? Psh!
“Tss! I‘ve known him but he doesn‘t even... remember me.” tila malungkot niyang pagsasalita. “‘Yun ba ang gusto mong marinig? Masaya ka na?” biglang pagsusungit nito.
Luh.
Pero... mukha nga. Parang hindi talaga kilala ni Kangaroo.
May selective amnesia ba ‘yun? Pati mga pangalan hindi rin siya matandaanin...
Well, pati naman ako, so, I‘m not one to talk.
“If they‘re childhood friends, then why does it seems like they ain‘t in good terms?” I asked in curiosity.
Bigla siyang nanahimik. Binuksan ko ang lollipop at kinain ito habang hinihintay siya sumagot.
