Trick or Treat! - Kelly Severide - Chicago Fire

"It's only me!" Kelly yelled as he walked in the front door

"Boo!" Lucy said as she jumped out in front of him

"Ahh!" Kelly said as he smiled

"I scared you!" Lucy said as Kelly picked her up

"I'm gonna get your for that!" Kelly said as he started to tickle his daughter

"Hey leave my girl alone!" I said walking into the hallway

Me and Kelly had been together for 10 years and married for 6. Our daughter, Lucy was 7 and she adored her dad. A lot more than she adored me, she has been a daddy's girl since birth and I couldn't stop that. It was my favourite time of year, Halloween and my daughter loved it as much as me. Kelly however wasn't the biggest fan

"Hey you" Kelly said before planting a kiss on my lips

"How was work?" I asked as Lucy ran away to go play with her doctors set

"Decent as normal" Kelly said as he walked into the kitchen

Kelly was a Luitenent on squad 3 and I was a psychiatrist at Chicago Med, I took over the unit after Dr.Charles retired. I had worked the nightshift and had arrived home minuets before Kelly did. Sometimes the whole parent and time consuming job thing didn't mix but we made it work the best we could.

"So did you manage to get Halloween off?" I asked as I started to prep dinner

"Of course I did! I wouldn't let Lucy down like that" Kelly said as he wrapped his arms around me

"Your the best, you know that?" I said as I rested my head against his shoulder

"I know" He muttered with a smirk on his face

It was 2 weeks later and the big day had arrived

"It's Halloween!" Lucy said as she ran into our bedroom

"It's also 7 in the morning princess!" Kelly said as he picked her up and put her in between us

"I get to dress up as a doctor tonight! And get tons of candy and eat it all up!" Lucy said happily

"That's great sweetie" I said still half asleep

"Maybe we can get some last minute pumpkins and decorate them again Mom?! How fun!" Lucy said as she looked at the celling

"Sure thing sweetie" I said before getting up

"Now! Who wants pumpkin waffles?" Kelly asked as Lucy's face lit up

"Oh me! I do!" Lucy yelled

"Coming right up!" Kelly said before getting out of bed himself

It was later that night and we spent the day carving pumpkins, Lucy had put on her doctors outfit and was making us wear our uniforms. Kelly put on his squad jacket and I put in my white coat.

"Where's your thing mommy?" Lucy asked

"What thing sweetie?" I asked getting down to her level

"Your thing! That you listen to people's hearts with!?" Lucy explained

"Oh you mean my stethoscope?" I asked

"Yes!" Lucy said as I got up and put it around my neck

"Better?" I asked

"Better!" Lucy said before taking Kelly's hand and dragging him out the door

"So what houses should we hit up first?" I asked

We lived in a pretty wealthy neighbourhood, with Kelly's salary and mine put together we made a good income. We had the big house and the fancy cars that both of us never had growing up.

"Let's do that one! I heard the people are loaded who live in there!" Lucy said as she pointed to a White House on the corner

"Let's do it!" I said as I took her hand

Me and Kelly stood at the end of the path and watched Lucy skip up the path. She got to the door and brushed down her fake white coat. She knocked on the door and a young woman opened it

"Wow! What a cool doctor!" She said smiling

"Trick or Treat!" Lucy yelled, holding open her bag

"Oh my! I totally forgot!" The woman said getting her candy out and putting it in Lucy's bag

"Thank you miss!" Lucy said smiling

"And look at this! We have a another doctor and firefighter!" The woman said as her eyes fell over to me and Kelly

"Oh hello" I said smiling

"Would mom and dad like some candy too? I know how hard they work?" The woman asked as she dropped down to Lucy's level

"I think they would love that!" Lucy said as the woman handed her some candy

"You go give that to them and have a great Halloween!" She said before standing back up

"Thank you!" Lucy said before slipping away

"We did good" Kelly whispered

"Heck yeah we did" I said smiling
