"I think the apartment could use a little more spice to it!" You said looking at Matt
"I think the apartment looks just fine" He said as he put his arm around you
You and Matt had been dating for almost 4 years now, you were the PIC on ambo and he was the truck captain. You had been the PIC at 51 for longer than you could remember, you and Matt had the perfect love story however there was only one person getting in your way Sylvie Brett. She had, had a thing for Matt for the longest time but you both always chose to ignore it.
"I've got a student joining ambo today, I'm literally dreading it" You said as you looked at Matt
"I'm sure it's not that bad" He laughed
You both then walked into the firehouse and made your way to the locker room. Matt gave you a quick kiss on the head before getting changed. From the corner of your eye you could see Brett eyeing up Matt with no shirt on.
"Brett!" You yelled without even making eye contract with her
"Yeah?" She asked
"Do you mind not drooling over his abs? That would be great" You said as you smirked
It was lunchtime and you were sat talking to Herrmann
"I heard your organising this years BBQ" You asked
"Yeah! Me, Otis and Brett. We've got everything, we just need a location" Herrmann explained
"Oh! My dads an alderman! I can get you any venue in Chicago" you explained
"Really! That'd be great!" Herrmann said
"Just text me the venue" You smiled as Brett walked in
"We won't be needing you, We can find our own venue" Brett said, Rattily
"Really? That's how you wanna play this? I'll give you 5 seconds to remake that sentence" You said firmly
Brett just smirked in your face, you looked over at the student you had, Barlowe. Looking like a lost bunny in the corner
"Your in the back today Brett, Barlowe your riding up front with me" You explained as you got up and made your way to the kitchen
"What?! You can't do that?!" Brett yelled
"I just did?" You explained
"I'm a paramedic! I should ride up front!" Brett yelled
"And I'm the PIC, it's not my fault your not smart enough for that role. Now the rigs looking very dirty. Why don't you demonstrate to Barlowe here how we wash the rig?" You said as you picked up a sponge and chucked it at her
"Fine, come on Barlowe. You can do most of the work" Brett muttered
"Oh and I don't want Barlowe washing the rig, I just want him to observe" You smiled
"Copy that" Brett said
"Your a bitch and I hope you know that" Stella laughed
"I am not. She was eyeing up my man! How would you feel if I eyed you Severide?" You explained
"Well your his best friend and I know that would never happen" Stella said as she picked up her coffee
"Imagine I was new to 51. And you caught me looking at him shirtless in the locker room" You said
"Oh I would kill you" Stella said
"Amen!" You smiled as you began to walk away
"That doesn't mean you do it! Your the nice one!" Stella yelled chasing after you
It was nearing the 12 hour mark on your shift and surprisingly you hadn't been called out on any calls. You then walked into Kelly's quarters and lay down on his bed.
"What have I told you about sleeping in my quarters?" He laughed as he sat on the edge of the bed
"Hey! I'm going through a mid life crisis!" You yelled
"Y/N your 25" Kelly said
"And?!" You muttered
"What's been going on?" Kelly asked
"Brett! That's what's been going on! She's been getting awfully close to Matt! He's mine Kelly! I don't mean to sound like a teenage girl when I say that but he is! I got there first! 4 years Kelly! What if he throws it all down the drain?!" You yelled
"It's not going to end up like that! As you said 4 years! Matt won't give up on you! Your too special Y/N!" Kelly smiled as Stella walked in
"Don't tell me your pulling a Brett and trying to get with my man" Stella laughed
"Ew no. That thing? Gross" You said looking at Kelly
"Look at yourself!" Kelly argued
The next morning came around quickly, you and Matt grabbed your things and began to walk out
"So we're good right?" He asked as he put his arm around you
"Of course we are!" You smiled
"Are you sure? Because I cannot handle a beating from Severide" Matt laughed
"I'm positive, I love you Matt" You smiled as you kissed him
"I love you more Y/N" He smiled
