It wasn't sunny but it wasn't cloudy either. Ashton was leaning against his porch. Katie came walking around, when she caught sight of Ashton. She sighed and walked up the steps of his porch. He didn't even look.

"Why didn't you tell me Steven..or should I call you Ashton now?"

"Its not like that Katie, I wanted to escape and not anyone find out about my old self. It was something I wanted to forget."

"But I thought you trusted me, we were dating." She stressed.

"I kept a deal with my friend and I didn't want to endanger you."

Katie almost laughed. "Endanger me how? Please enlighten me."

Ashton whipped around. "You wanna know? Fine."

And then he went on to tell her about Mackenzie, his deal with Michael and his dad and how he had to fake his own death and move to the U.S.

"Ashton.." Katie drifted off. He covered his large hands over his face and cried.

Katie came over wrapping her arms around his waist. "I'm sorry baby, let it out."

Ashton did. It was a long time since he's cried. He missed his family and friends. Even Mackenzie.

"I loved her." He cried. "And she's locked away in a mental institution. My mom and sister are grieving over my death. I'm a horrible person."

Katie cupped his face. "Listen to me, you are amazing Ash. It maybe too soon or you can't say it yet but I love you. If your mom and sister knew the real reason. They wouldn't hate you. Alright?"

"I'm grateful for you Kate, don't think I'm not."

"I know."

"I thought you would awake by now."

I grunted, and let out a gasp. The pain was unbearable.

"I have ice. I managed to sneak a pain pill for you." Michael frowned. I quickly swallowed the pill. The ice numbed my belly.

"Was it a success?"

"Most definitely. You can thank Luke for his brilliant ways."

"I will. Has anyone asked for me?"

"The guards. We told them you were ill."

"I need to let them see me." I sat up, slowing with Michael's help.

He helped me down the hall. We took a familiar turn down the hall. I hadn't taken it in months.

"The garden is open?!" I grinned asking.

"Yeah, its 76 outside."

I let go off Michael and limped really fast outside.

"Slow down Mac." He laughed at me. I grinned sheepishly. "I'm just REALLY happy."

I've missed the garden. The flowers were starting to bloom again for the season. I wasn't the only happy one. Several other patients danced around.

"Maybe its a sign." I said, sitting down at a picnic table. "Sign to say something good has happened."

"Maybe." Michael pulled out a rose from his back. "Every rose has its thorn but not every one is perfect."

I smiled. "I remember you saying that the first time we met."

"I live by it Mackenzie."

Something else I wasn't expecting was Michael to pull out a cigarette and start smoking.

"And I remember that too."

He didn't say nothing else & I didn't need him too. I liked the silence that was out here. It made me hopeful that one day I will get out this hellhole and be with the one I love.. Michael and all my friends without the worry of being locked away ever again.
