Momma hasn't changed a bit, I think she's getting worse. Sooner or later people would start visiting and once they realize mom isn't fit enough they will send me off to an orphanage and her a mental hospital. I can't let that happen, I just hope nobody starts coming over. I've been telling people she's on a business trip and my grandma is taking care of me. That'll hold them off for awhile.

Oh yeah..

I made a friend with the new neighbor's son, Ashton. He was the same age as me, he even went to school with me. I didn't get bullied as much as I do, I think its because Ashton was with me.

Sincerely,

Mackenzie

I sat on the top of the picnic table with my legs crossed and the journal across my lap.

Still interested with this simple diary, I flipped over to the next page.

Ashton and I hung out yesterday, we sat in my backyard and he told me every fact about the fish in our pond. It was interesting and for some reason he made me feel...Safe. Is it odd? Momma screamed out during his visit. I had to ignore ever question he asked and ran inside.

"What was that? Is everything okay?"

I had told him it was fine and I'll see him tomorrow. When I asked mom why she screamed, she pushed me back and hit me then screamed out how I had been possessed too.

The truth is, it terrified me and I ran to my room. I didn't come out till the next morning for school.

What I didn't expect was mum sitting at the kitchen table clutching a cup of tea. She had apologizing over and over until she dropped the cup. It broke and spilled over the table. I tried to clean it up but she yanked my hair, threw me into the closet and locked the door.

She kept saying the same thing over and over. "I will not let my daughter be taken by the demons you will be hidden and safe."

What was that supposed to mean? Did she see me with Ashton?

Until Next time.

Sincerely,

Mackenzie.

I ran a hand threw my hair.

"What you got there? A diary?" Michael asked, taking a seat beside me.

"Uh..Yeah you can say that." I said, closing the diary and putting it beside me.

"Interesting." He piped.

Michael pulled out a cigarette, putting it between his lips lighting it. "Want one?"

I shook my head, my mouth hanging open. ". They let you smoke?!"

He chuckled. "Not really but with the reputation I've brought myself too they don't really care what I do."

"Michael Uh..whatever your last name is that is going to kill you. "

"Clifford ma'am but I might as well die early I don't want to spend my life here when I'm seventy."

I raised an eyebrow. "Now that you say that I might take you up on that offer."

He smiled, giving me one. I let him light it before I took a drag and immediately, bent over coughing.

He laughed. "Chicks cannot hold their smoke."

I recovered, lightly punching him in the arm.

"You got to admit that was funny."

I held up my hands in defense. "Okay it was."

I heard a nurse call Michael's name. He stood up, throwing his cigarette on the ground and stomping on it.

"Well I had a lovely time today Ms. Mackenzie I hope we can do this again." Michael said in a posh accent.

I smiled, returning it. "Likewise."

"Until next day." He bowed.

I watched Michael disappear with the nurse beside him.

Now it was my turn to disappear. I tucked the journal under my arm and made my way to my room with a smile.

Maybe being in a mental hospital isn't so bad...

I could get used to this.
