"So, who have you got so far?" Olivia asked Remus, holding her list of who she had to buy presents for.

"I've gotten my mum, your dad, James, Peter, Sirius, you, Lily, Regulus, James's mum and dad, Marlene, and Mary. Leaving Josephine, Dorcas, your mum and the teachers," Remus answered, his friend writing all the people he had left on her list.

"Okay," she said, "so let's go to the Three Broomsticks. Rosmerta should have something good for Slughorn."

The duo walked to the pub, where 21-year-old Rosmerta greeted them. Every boy in Hogwarts had a crush on her- 5'2, with dusty blonde hair and gentle curves, she was truly one of the most beautiful witches in the village of Hogsmeade. "What can I get for you two this morning?"

"Two hot butterbeers," Remus requested.

Olivia added, "And some fine mead. It's a gift." Rosmerta nodded, clearly telling it was for Slughorn. She left to fetch their order, and the duo sat in a cozy booth.

She returned shortly, the butterbeers in flasks and the bottle of cedar mead in brown paper bag. Remus smiled like a goofball, and Olivia smiled and thanked the landlady, like a normal person. As soon as Rosmerta was out of earshot, Ollie giggled at Remus's swooning over the woman.

"Oh my god, Remus, you're so funny when you're flustered like that," she said, laughing. Remus's face flush red, making Ollie's laughter do anything but cease.

"Shut up," Remus said, hiding his face as best he could. "If you had to talk to a pretty boy you'd be just as embarrassed."

Olivia gave him The Look. "Actually, no. I talk to a very pretty boy every single day. And you never see me blushing and stuttering like a- well, um- a blushing schoolgirl. Unlike you," she replied, her lips in a smirk.

Remus stared at her blankly for a few seconds then- "What?"

She looked at him blankly for a moment, then said, "What do you mean, what?"

"Who are you talking about?"

"Huh?"

"You said you talk to a pretty boy all the time."

"...And?"

"Well, who?"

"I- um-"

"WHO IS THE PRETTY BOY?"

Everyone in the pub turned to look at the duo. The entire place had gone dead silent, every eye on Olivia and Remus.

"I'll tell you later," Ollie said, standing up. She drained her butterbeer and took the mead, walking out of the pub.

Her mood spoiled, and her head pounding, she walked all the way back to Hogwarts and straight to the Gryffindor common room. On the way, people looked at her, and when she burst into the common room, a crowd of first years that had been sitting where she usually sat looked up at her terrified. Luckily for them, she stormed past and straight into her dorm, where she flopped onto the bed.

That evening, word had gotten around to the whole school about that morning. Olivia and Remus never fought like this, and their friends were trying to get them to reconcile.

Remus kept insisting that he was sorry, James kept insisting that Remus didn't mean for that to happen, Sirius kept insisting that Remus shouldn't have said that, but that he meant no harm, and Peter kept saying that if Remus and Ollie couldn't make up, then the whole group would fall apart. Lily kept telling Ollie that Remus was her best friend, and she had to make up with him. Mary told her that she was being ridiculous and that Olivia should try to talk to Remus and "quit fighting." Josephine told Ollie that Remus had been a dick, but they were still friends, and should try to make up with him. Olivia was adamant that Remus had fucked up, and that he deserved the cold treatment.

She knew, of course, that she would forgive him, but just not yet. All she knew right now was that she'd have to do her Christmas shopping the next weekend, and that she wished she hadn't just walked out on Remus that morning.
