Ollie woke up. It wasn't anything abnormal- she woke up early every day. What was abnormal, though, was the large pile of parcels at the foot of her bed. It was just her. She was alone, and everyone knows it's no fun to open presents by yourself. She promptly brought all her gifts to the boy's dorms- the early-morning adrenaline was to blame for her ability to do this without waking her friends. Sirius woke up as Ollie brought the last few parcels in, so she could open them with her best friends.
Olivia noticed he was awake and waited for the others to get up while she sat on his bed. She normally dressed immediately after waking, but for fuck's sake, it was Christmas. She was wearing an old T-shirt of James's (it was from a Muggle store; it had lots of inappropriate imagery on it, hence why James had picked it) and a pair of sweatpants. Her hair was in a braid, and loose strands framed her face.
Eventually, the other boys woke up to parcels at the end of their beds. Then all of them began opening presents; luckily Ollie had ordered gifts by owl post for the people she had yet to tick off her list.
The first present was from Sirius. It was a large sweater, with stripes. It was white and pastel pink, and in the white stripes (which were much larger than the pink) there were cherry blossoms. Ollie stared at it for a solid minute before putting aside. She loved it.
Sirius opened Ollie's present for him. It was a watch; over the summer, he had seen it in the window of a Muggle shop. Despite that it wasn't magical, it told the time quite well, and Ollie had bewitched it so it didn't require battery. He loved it.
Remus opened a gift from Peter. It was yet another romance novel. This one was set in medieval times, and it was his favorite trope: forbidden lovers. It was exactly what he wanted.
James opened a gift from Remus. It was a massive box of Honeyduke's sugar quills. He thought it was perfect.
Peter opened James's gift for him. It was a coat that he'd said he liked. He loved the gift.
Then, Remus opened a parcel from James. It was another novel, this one set in modern times, with a friends to lovers trope; Remus's second favorite.
Ollie opened the gift James had gotten her. It was a hair pin and earrings; the cherry blossoms and white detailing made it clear that it was made to match the sweater. She loved it.
In total, James got: Sugar Quills (Remus), a graphic Queen shirt (Olivia), a pair of platform heels (Sirius; James gave him a dirty look, to which he replied, "They'd look hot on you."), a pair of bell bottom jeans (his mother; "It's fashionable, and practical, and you've probably destroyed your old jeans anyway, what with your shenanigans."), a new case for his glasses (from his father; this he simply cast aside), and a comb (from Lily). He'd gotten notes from Marlene, Ava, Mary, Dorcas, and an honorary Christmas card from Regulus Black.
Remus got: Four romance novels (Peter, James, Mr. and Mrs. Potter, and Lily), a range in ink colors (Sirius; "I know how you like your notes to look nice," he'd explained, blushing slightly. Remus was ecstatic.), a massive box of chocolate (Ollie), a book on the history werewolves in Great Britain (Ollie; "It looked cool."), a set of nice quills (his mother), a heart shaped box of chocolates (Mary MacDonald; these, Remus cast aside.), a box of pumpkin pasties (James's mother) and a new winter coat (his mother). He'd gotten notes from Marlene, Ava, and Josephine.
Peter received: A coat (James), a box of pumpkin pasties (Sirius), a new pair of sneakers (his mum), a hat (Remus), a small keychain (from Ollie; he'd mentioned it in a shop in Hogsmeade), and a box of chocolate frogs (James's mother). He got notes from Mary MacDonald, Marlene, Lily, Dorcas, and second year Bertha Jorkins, who seemed infatuated with him.
Sirius got: A watch (Ollie), a large box of Sugar Quills (Remus), a white button-up shirt (James; Sirius stared at James before exploding, "How did you know?!"), a black fedora (Peter), a pair of socks (Regulus; Sirius looked at them, a strange sadness in his grey eyes.), a winter hat (Ava) and a box of chocolate frogs (James's mother). He got notes from Mary, Marlene, Dorcas, Josephine, and a rather nasty one from his mother. His father sent him nothing.
Ollie got: a hairpin and earrings set (James), a sweater (Sirius), the entire collection of the White Stripes cassette tapes (Remus; "Oh my god, Remus, you are too much."), a magically operated cassette player (Remus; "You're the best, you know that?"), a cherry blossom perfume (Echo), a pair of bell bottom jeans (Echo), a box of chocolate frogs (James's mother), two new sweater vests (her father and Peter), a new shade of lip gloss (Ava), a hairpin with a large, ornamental rose (Josephine), a new box of quills (Lily), a box of Drubble's Best Blowing Gum (Marlene) and a new ball gown-esque dress (her mother; she could only respond with "Um."). She'd gotten notes from Mary, Dorcas, Regulus, and (almost certainly because Lily made him) Severus Snape.
Everyone was a collapsible mess of happiness, giggles, and sugar as the quintet went down to Christmas breakfast. They all ate, after getting dressed, and laughed about every last thing. Snape was there, too, warranting, through his presence, a few mean remarks on James's part. Remus didn't even scold him for it.
It was a good Christmas.
