The actual vows and wedding passed in a blur for Ollie, but the after party was fun. As she and Remus danced to a lively tune, they caught each other up about their summers so far.
"I've started listening to this Muggle band, you know," Ollie was saying, as Remus spun her. "They call themselves Queen."
"Didn't you get James a Queen shirt for Christmas last year?" Remus asked, spinning himself and his friend off of the dance floor and toward the seats.
"Yeah, I did. I know he listens to them," Ollie replied. "They're really good, actually."
"I can imagine," Remus said, sitting down to rest, as he had never been particularly active or much of a dancer. As soon as her dancing partner was seated, Ollie felt someone tap her shoulder gently.
Of course, she turned around, face to face with one of the boys she'd seen earlier. It was the older of the two, and he smiled politely, the silver stud in his nose glinting in the sun.
"Excuse me, miss, but could I have this dance?" he asked, holding out a hand.
"Um-" Ollie glanced back at Remus, who gave her a smug smile. "Sure."
She placed her delicate hand in his, and let him lead her back onto the dance floor. They made light conversation as they moved.
"Um, my name's Pierre," the boy said as he and Ollie swayed along to the music.
"That's a nice name," Ollie remarked. "I'm Olivia."
"Charming," Pierre replied, spinning Ollie as they danced. "Do you go to Hogwarts? I could swear I've seen you around somewhere."
"I do, actually," Ollie said, slightly surprised. "I'm starting my sixth year this year."
"I'm starting my seventh," Pierre said. "I'm thinking of taking Care of Magical Creatures this year, just to round out my schedule."
"What other N.E.W.T. classes are you in?" Ollie asked.
"Well, my dream career is to work with Gringotts," Pierre explained. "So I'm taking Defense Against the Dark Arts, Potions, Transfiguration, and Charms. I took Divination last year, just to try it out, but I'm going to drop it."
"That's a really cool job," Ollie said. "Once my O.W.L. scores come in, I'll actually pick my classes."
"Ah, and do you have any aspirations?" Pierre asked, twirling Ollie. "A dream job, perhaps?"
Ollie replaced her hand on his shoulder once more. "Yeah, I want to be a teacher someday. A Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher," she said.
"Wow," Pierre said, pulling Ollie in a little bit closer so they could scoot between two couples. "That's really amazing."
"Maybe. You know what, let's get something to eat," she suggested as she glanced over at the food table and saw the tall lemon cake.
"Well, of course," the boy agreed, and the two of them made their way over there.
Pierre cut a slice for each of them, and placed them on two delicate plates. He also took the opportunity to pour them both a cup of punch.
"So, where are you from?" Ollie asked, sitting down next to him. "You don't seem to be from too near here."
Pierre smiled at that. "That would be because I'm not from here. Actually, I'm not even British."
Ollie must have looked mildly surprised, because Pierre chuckled softly. "My father is. He grew up in downtown London. He was a Slytherin, and he knew the bride's elder sister. Like a mentor figure, from what I gather. He and Andromeda were friends. When he graduated, back in the fifties, he moved to France. He met my mother there, things happened, they fell in love, and I came along. Then my brother."
Ollie was a little bit surprised that he was telling her all of this, but not annoyed. It was a captivating tale. And the way his "r"'s would catch in his throat, and the slight pull on the vowel sounds made it so much more enjoyable to hear. The smooth, gravy-like sound of his voice added to it.
"We moved here when I was nine, at my father's request. I don't remember much of it. Just that it was for my brother. And so, here I am. Half British, and half French. And raised there. I guess the French shows up more than the English," Pierre joked.
"I suppose it does. The only English person I can think of that's got looks anywhere near on par with yours is me," Ollie teased. "And I only grew up here. Both of my parents are Japanese."
"Wow. I'm sorry, I feel like I dropped a lot on you at once there. And I've only known you for a few hours. That was rude of me-"
"No, I like listening. You have a wonderful voice."
"Oh, well in that case," Pierre continued. "Tell me about yourself a little more."
And so Ollie did. The two of them sat there until the sun started to lean heavily in the west, before rising to find their families.
Pierre took up Ollie's hand and kissed her knuckles lightly. "Goodbye, Olivia," he said, dropping it. "I'll see you at school, I suppose."
"I suppose. Goodbye, Pierre," Ollie said in return, then set out to find her friends.
It only took her a moment to find them, sitting together in a row, laughing about something. She quickly went over to the boys, sitting with them.
"Hey, what're we talking about?" she asked, leaning forward to hear their conversation better.
"Oh, nothing," James said, grinning. "Where have you been all afternoon?"
"I was hanging out Pierre," Ollie said calmly, forcing her mouth not to twitch.
"Who's Pierre?" Sirius asked, leaning over towards Ollie.
"One of the other guests," Ollie replied. "He's quite sweet."
"Is he, now?" Remus said, raising his eyebrows at his friend. "I'm assuming he's the one who snatched you up away from me?"
"That's him," Ollie said, shooting her friend a glare. "Apparently he goes to Hogwarts. I don't think I've ever seen him before, though."
"What year is he?" Peter asked.
"One above us," Ollie replied. "He says he's a Ravenclaw, but his father was a Slytherin. Went to school with your cousin, Sirius-"
"Which cousin, I have a lot of them. You know, to interbreed," Sirius cut in.
"Bella."
"Oh. Ew. Poor guy."
"That's what I was thinking," Ollie seconded. "I didn't say it though."
"Well, I think maybe we all ought to go home, before it gets too dark," Remus said, glancing at the ever-dimming sunset painting the sky with oranges and reds.
Ollie hugged Remus and Peter tightly. James gave her a very Potter hug, kissing the top of her head. Sirius, similarly, pulled the girl into a warm embrace, giving her a quick kiss on the cheek. Ollie didn't know what had gotten into her, but instead of pulling away and leaving at that, she cupped his face and gave him a real kiss.
"I'll see you boys in September," she said, leaving. "Until then!"

Wow, this one took a while to get out. I've gone longer though. I hope you guys didn't mind the wait! I was trying to fill the chapter and give some more substance to Pierre. I feel like meeting at a wedding and getting to know each other there is so cute. And the sad idea that these two may never see each other again.
I'd say Pierre and Ollie for life, but... That's not the plan lol. Anyway I'm thinking of posting this on AO3 as well, but cleaned up a lot. This is really like a draft, and of course I'll keep this around, but a cleaned up version would be really nice as well. Anyway, thanks for getting me this far! 50 chapters. Wow. I'm impressed. Anyway, expect a chapter on Christmas.
Also shoutout to @lucyelizabeth2211 happy birthday bestie <3 ily all gn
