Issac's eyes crept open only slightly before the sun stung his eyes and he dug his head back into the covers. His head throbbed and it took him a moment to come into his senses before he remembered where he was about last night.
Her scent lingered in the sheets. His fingers almost with minds of their own reached out wondering if it was less the sheets emitting that delicious fruity smell and more her. His hand slowly crept over the soft cotton sheets just as memories flooded back. It took him a few moments when he touched the drop off of his bed when he'd realize the other side of the bed was barren.
His heart fell, but the scent lingered and taunted him. He rolled on his back and stared upward under the dark blue comforter. Maybe she just had to leave, maybe she'd called.... He quickly crawled over to the night stand where he usually kept his phone ignoring the sun rays.
That was when he'd seen the open drawer and the picture of Rachel. He cringed just seeing her the lie in her smile. He didn't know what Mel thought when she found it, and hated himself for not throwing it away with the rest of her trash.
The smell of fresh brewed coffee mingled with the scent of sex and Melanie. His heart skipped with hope. As he slid out from the bed a chill fell over his bare chest and he suddenly felt his pants begin to fall. He grabbed them before they fell and kept hold.
He could hardly remember if they had made love again after the tryst in his father's office.
"Mel?" He called out making his way through the hall. It was possible she had left the coffee on and went out. He still needed to call her and explain the picture.
That was when he had gotten to the kitchen where the smell was most potent. He saw the hint of a figure and noticed the light reddish brown tentrils in front of his coffee machine. He let out a breath he didn't even know he was holding.
Her eyes met him with a sweet smile. She was beaming as she walked toward him with a steaming much. She nugged it in his direction.
"Morning." She sang.
He smiled. Thankful she wasn't mad, but then again Mel was an actress. He politely took the cup looking down at the dark fluid.
"You still like hazelnut right?"
He chuckled like an idiot still staring at his coffee with a delicious aroma. He was more awake than ever and she knew him too well.
She breezed by him her scent once again mixing with the smell of the coffee. It was the smell of heaven. He caught her arm. "Wait! Where are you going." He took a sip off coffee.
Her eyes glittered in the morning sun and fell down by his feet. It took him a moment to realize the light breeze over his hairy legs. He quickly placed the cup on his table and went for his pants releasing Mel. She headed toward the door again as he fumbled with his pants.
"Mel, wait." He called out.
A small bubble of laughter built in her fluffy cheeks as she turned and looked at him. Suddenly a goofy dwarf with big ears came to mind. Snow White was always one of her favorite Disney movies, and she always said her favorite one was Dopey maybe this was why.
He chuckled, "Hold on a second." He said tugging his pants up. "Where are you running off to so fast."
"Shaggs, I have stuff to do today. I still have a lot to do with Val's wedding."
"You're still planning it?" He said.
She shrugged, "I told her I would. The more I think about it the more I'm thinking that none of this is my business."
