Isaac's phone hadn't went off for the rest of the day. The old Isaac would have immediately showed up at her house, but Isaac's new approach was to wait a little longer for her to call. If she did at all. He hoped she did. He decided to see his dad. As he pulled into the small parking lot he noticed the BMW next to the door. It wasn't an uncommon sight, but it wasn't so welcome either. Maybe he just wasn't over high school, maybe the fact that he and Christian didn't talk was fishy. Either way, he wasn't convince that Brody wasn't the asshole that he was way back.
He shook off the memories and pushed open his door.
"Well, just something to think about Abe. I'd hate to see this little business of yours go when you do."
Brody walked into him and Isaac's fists clenched. But he tried to keep his emotions in check.
Brody smiled at Isaac. Isaac couldn't help but size him up. He still towered over him, but now Isaac had been working out. Even with his suit on Brody still had his linebacker build. He might have slimmed a little, but he was still bigger then him and Christian. "What's up Isaac, we we just talking about you." His lips curved into a side ways smile.
Isaac looked over at his had with his arms crossed in the door way of his office.
"Think about my offer, Abe." He said, "I'll make it worth your while." He shot Isaac a glance and then head out the door.
"What was that about?"
His dad huffed, "That's not the first guy to throw many at me to sell this place and it won't be the last."
Isaac's stomach fell. "You're going to sell this place?"
He chuckled. "Of course not."
He shook his head. Melanie was right, and word must have been getting around. "Do you need help or anything?"
His eyes narrowed. "Um...no."
He figured his dad would have pride issues about this place.
"Dad, I mean if you need anything."
He pushed his lips together. "I can't say that I do." He chuckled.
"Dad, seriously, I think it's about time I help you for a change."
His eyebrow shot up, "Isaac, it's really not necessary."
"You and this place got me through school. This is your legacy. One day you're going to pass this down to your kids."
His dad just smiled warmly, "Isaac this is a business, my legacy is my kids. Always has been, always will be."
"So if you lost this place..." He began.
He shrugged, "I'd be devastated, but I'd get over it, and find a new passion. If meeting Valerie has taught me anything is that it's never too late for find a new dream."
"Like what?"
He chuckled, "Well, I'm back to being a father and a husband. I guess my dream is that I do it better the second time."
Isaac could relate. He wanted to be a better husband, his second go-round and the thought of being a father sent his heart raging. "You didn't do so bad the first time, ol' man."
His dad smiled, "Well, you boys make me very proud."
"Dad, if you need anything, just don't hesitate." He said, "I know this is new for all of us."
He gave his dad a bear hug. It had been a while since he'd hugged it dad fearing that Christian would tease him, but he didn't care. He'd accepted that he was a hugger, and his dad might have been struggling on the inside.
