Two Months Later...

"Girl, what I wouldn't have been to be there on that Pearl Island with you." Vernon smirked as he propped on Melanie's bed with her legs curled in the air, like a teenage girl at a sleepover.

There had been a lot of those moments since Vernon moved in. Melanie had her doubts about having a roommate. She had gotten desperate being inbetween jobs. Vernon had given her a good lead and recommendation for an even planning business receptionist. Not exactly what she wanted to do, but it paid the bills, and and as a mentor for the summer, at a young playwright camp, with the dramator that she had used used for her last play. She could help show young playwrights how to get their plays on the stage, how to format the scripts, and things like that. The last two months had been busy, but she was content with it.

Vernon flipped another page in the picture book she made of her, what Vernon had dubbed the "Bunnie moon", for no reason other than it wasn't "real", but it didn't seem fake in the way that, the emotions and the effect on her was real. Vernon let out a loud burst of laughter.

"OMG! Ya'll should have took me too."

"We didn't even know we were going." Melanie stretched out next to Vernon. Observing the pictures on her book, that she only made to remind herself that what happened was real. If she didn't, she could have sworn she dreamed it it.

"I know, but I would have easily been like Stella and got my groove back with one of those island boys."

Melanie just rolled her eyes and laughed. She'd gotten her grove back alright, it was like as soon as the "bunnie moon" was over she had been writing. That decreased on her free time, which mean, her and Isaac's relationship was currently moving at a snail's pace, but for the first time. A missed phone call and Isaac didn't call out the fire brigade, and she'd call him back when she could without an argument.

The conversation was more along the lines of casual conversation, and not why she didn't love him. She did. Now he was more secure about that. And more importantly, judging from the last conversations, he seemed more secure in himself.

"So how are you and loverboy now?"

Melanie smiled, "We're good." She sighed.

"So are you to a thing."

She giggled, "If by "thing" you mean best friend." He was. He understood her so much better now, even more than she understood herself, even better then Christian.

Vernon grimaced.

Melanie just smiled. She was secure. She wanted to be with Isaac, they had confirmed that, but they needed to fix their friendship and they did that.

His eyes narrowed. "With benefits right."

Melanie giggled again. Usually every other Friday night Isaac would camp out in her room, and for two months all they had done was cuddle and talk until the sun came up. Even though they had wanted to, they decided to celibate for a while. It was working. she shook her head.

"So you're going to sit here and tell me."

Melanie nodded. She had not had sex for two months and she wasn't frustrated or antsy. She wanted Isaac but he new better friendship with Isaac made her feel amazing, special, and loved. Most of all it made her feel secure in their friendship. It was like they were Bubbles and Shaggs, but for the first time it was the adult relationship they should have had a long time ago.

"So you and him have been in that room and..." He trailed off, "No action?"

Yes! Action. Fireworks, reconnecting, rediscovering and healing. They had grown up, and there was nothing more sexy than that.
