Abe jolted out of his sleep from a wrap at his door. His eyes shot up toward the ceiling as he blew warm fumes from his nostrils. His eyes turned toward the digital clock as he sat up running his fingers through his head. His eyes trailed over his empty room.
He stepped into his jeans and rushed down the stairs. The first thing he thought was the police. It had to be. Christian had gone and done something stupid. He followed the high pitched barks of Garth. His small wrinkly paw scratched at the door eagerly. He was still a little small to be a guard, but at least he was a decent alarm system.
He picked up his furry youngest son as he opened the door and found the small frame of Melanie. He wasn't sure what to think, but by the pained expression across her face, he knew that it wasn't good.
"Melanie, it's three in the morning." He said groggily.
He heard a familiar howl, but this wasn't Garth's, but familiar none the less. He set Garth behind the door and immediately darted in the direction the sound was coming from.
"U-um...Shaggs is hurt." Melanie said behind him. It didn't stir much panic. Abe just had a feeling his Isaac was trying to sneak out, possibly with Melanie.
He hustled outside and sure enough there was Isaac beside the bushes.
"Hey Dad!" A weary smile spread across his son's face.
Abe's nostril's flared, "What the hell were you doing?"
"He was on the roof." Melanie explained.
Abe turned his head toward Melanie, the panic in her eye said a lot. His heart tugged with how deeply she was concerned about his so. He looked back at Isaac eyes assessed him, when he got to his legs he noticed the awkward position the were laying in. He blew out a hard breath, "What the hell were you doing on the roof?"
"I was on my roof and Shaggs." Melanie started talking once again, "Mr. Abe...I'm sorry, he slipped. That has never happened."
"You've done this before?" Abe cradled his head.
"Dad we were just talking." Isaac protested.
"On the roof?" Abe asked. He shook his head,"Melanie, you should go home. I'm taking him to the emergency room." Her eyes got big again and a glaze of tears coated her eyes tugging at Abe's heart again, "Sweetheart, it's late. I don't want your sisters to worry."
"I want her to come with me." Isaac protested.
Abe scratched his head, "It's the middle of the night."
"Mr. Abe, please. I feel really bad." She cried.
Abe sighed as he considered bringing Melanie. He knew that Isaac would be in a wheel chair and the two wouldn't see each other for a while. The last thing he wanted was to make Valerie worry. She had enough to deal with. He didn't see much of her, but the last thing he wanted to do was to make things worse. "Melanie, I have to talk to my son, sweetheart."
