Leave it to her car to die in the middle of a blisteringly hot day. Melanie slid off the hood of her Camry eying the surroundings again. She'd seen a cow a few minutes ago off in the distance, reminding her how deep in the country she was. It was farm land as far as she could see. Her shirt stuck to her and there wasn't civilization for miles.
She decided to get back in and crank up her car for the air conditioning. That's when she heard the sound of a car riding up the street. She then saw the grill of a red pick up truck. She wasn't prepared to hitchhike in the middle of nowhere. Especially since she was already expecting Mr. Abe in his to truck, and who knew what kind of crazy situation she would have gotten herself into.
The truck came to slow, she was sure that it was probably some old farmer that was looking to help, but it did make her more self conscious about driving home by herself and thankful she hadn't broke down in the middle of the night.
"What's a pretty girl like you doing stranded on the side of the road?"
Melanie looked up into familiar pair of blue eyes. She couldn't stop a smile from stretching from ear to ear. "Well, if it isn't my knight in shining pick up truck."
"Now Duchess, you know I am far from a prince, far from a knight."
"I like the new wheels."
"You don't think it's too redneck."
Who cares? He was a redneck hottie. Melanie shrugged, "I like it. What happened to your Harley?"
He chuckled "you know I'm a Harley boy. I just thought I'd give my new truck a spin to hold your Hollywood shoe collection."
She blushed, "Always thinking of me."
He chuckled. "Come on baby, let's load I don't want your fine as to melt in this heat."
Christian was a play brother to her most times, but she liked the attention of a passing flirts with a dreamy guy to pass the time.
Melanie leaned over semi self conscious about the way she hand to bend over and push the release button. She watched Christian get out in a white sweaty tank top and jeans, his blond hair topped with a red bulldogs cap. His sweat made an impression of his muscles. She watched as he removed her luggage from her truck and set it in the bed of the truck.
His eyes caught hers and his lips twitched into his usual deviant smirk as he opened the door to his truck. Melanie climbed in still feeling his eyes on her, it just caused her to giggle like an idiot.
Christian walked around the car and climbed into the river seat, turning on his car and cranking on the air full blast to Melanie's relief.
"So what have you been up to?" He asked, "How was the tour?"
She whistled as she slowly let her fist fall and then let out an explosion sound. "Tanked. Flopped." She slit her throat with her throat with her finger. She blew out a breath falling backward in the seat, "And now my car broke down. Serves me right for trying to sneak into town."
"I was surprised to hear you were coming in town."
"Well, I had to call Val, she had to call Mr. Abe to get my hooptie, but for what ever reason he sent you... Not that I'm complaining"
Christian laughed. "Yeah he's in a meeting. Then he said he'd be on his way. Everybody has been so busy with this wedding waiting on you to do this planning or whatever."
"I need something to distract me considering my life's work just when down the toilet." She sighed.
"So dramatic."
