"Wow! The sky is beautiful tonight."

Isaac never took his eyes off the breath-taking beauty lying next to him, "Absolutely beautiful." Isaac had always been scared of heights and normally he didn't climb on his roof in the middle of the night, but somehow when he was with Melanie he felt like he could fly.

Melanie's eyes shifted briefly and then once more and locked into his.

Isaac smiled slowly.

"What?" Her cheeks flushed pink.

Isaac's fingers itched and his heart race. "D-do you ever think about dating?"

Her head casually shifted up to the sky and she poked her fluffy lip out. "Is this town no."

"W-why?"

She giggled and his heart reacted. "Everybody knows you don't date in a small town."Everybody has been with everybody." Her face flenched, "It's like incest or something...gross."

"Everybody dates Mel. We're teenagers."

"Then why don't you date Shaggs?" She shot him a challenging glance.

Because the only girl that made his heart rage like a crazy person was lying next to him. He swallowed the dryness in his mouth. He shrugged, "I don't know."

"Exactly. Besides girls that date end up pregnant before they graduate high school. I'm going to Broadway."

"So you're never going to get married, have kids? I mean you have to practice." And who better than your best friend you've known forever that is secretly in love with you. He would have added but he bit them back.

Melanie giggled. Isaac's favorite sound in the world.

"What?"

She shrugged again. "I don't need practice to be Christian's ex wife."

Isaac choked.

"I'll just let him do all the work. I'm sure he's experienced in that department."

"Christian has a girlfriend," Isaac pointed out, "Besides you've barely said two words to each other."

"He's actually started saying 'hi' back. I think I'm weighing him down."

Isaac rolled his eyes. His blood boiled. "Why don't we practice on each other?"

Melanie shook her head.

"Why not?" He grimaced.

"You're too important to me Shaggs."

His heart warmed.

"I couldn't hate you after we break up."

"W-well, w-we...." Melanie kissed Isaac softly on the cheek and rested her head on his chest. Isaac wrapped his arms around her, nuzzling into her crazy curls. "I love you." He whispered.

"I love you too, Shaggy."

* * * *

Isaac felt his eyelids creek open and they felt like they hand barbells on them. He let out a groan as the head pain kicked in. The light singed his eye as the fluorescent ceiling light came into focus. A sterile smell attacked his nose.

"Auntie Em, Auntie Em." He heard a familiar pubescent voice tease, "Hey Isaac, are you awake?"

His eyes opened and adjusted when he noticed a large wooden door.

"Focus man, focus." Jake said.

Isaac turned his head against the stiff pain. He groaned again. That was when he'd noticed Jake in a fold out Laz E Boy type chair digging his spoon into a pudding cup.

"Am I in the hospital? Was I in a coma." He was piecing the things he last remembered but it was a blur.

Jake chuckled, "Dad and Val were having a pre-wedding party, and you come in all 'Hey my best friend is the devil and she steals men's souls'" He did a mocking voice, "Then you fell off the stage and hit your head. They said you were okay, they did a CAT scan to make sure and they'd release you when you you woke up."

His eyes narrowed, "What are you doing here?"

His eyes widened, "Excuse me." He chuckled harshly. "I think you lucked out considering Dad said if he had to look at you he'd probably choke you in your sleep, Christian was going to kick your ass when you woke up, and Mel, well the girls," He shook his head, "Let's just say they're all good and pissed."

He crossed his arms and sulked in his bed, "Why is everybody mad at me." He was the one with the heartbreak.

"You're joking right?" He sat up from his chair, "Isaac you do know you basically ruined Dad's engagement party and pretty much made an ass out of yourself in front of the whole town."

He remembered small bits. Yes, he had been drinking. It was has dad that called him and told him that it was important to have the whole family there. He didn't even let him explain that he was drinking. Yes he against his better judgement went anyway, if he was wrapped around a tree that was his dad's guilt.

"You know what? It's cool, 'cause since Melanie is too stressed out to plan the wedding Dad is taking us to the Bahamas to marry Val. So looks like I'll be starting spring break early."

"Good for you." Isaac grumbled.

"You're lucky Dad bribed me with a four by four to keep an eye on you."

Isaac looked at him.

"Yup, kind of awesome being rich, huh?" He smiled sliding his hands behind his head.

"Dad's rich."

"Now I know what those Kardashian chicks feel like. I think I'll get a reality show."

Isaac ran a hand over his face, "Jake stop talking."

Melanie heard the whispering as clear as someone talking to her, and if that was mistakable the evil eyes were enough to make her cringe. She might as well have had a scarlet "A" across her chest. She felt her eyes burn until she felt Dee's arm around her.

"Don't give them the satisfaction, baby girl. Don't you dare cry." She whispered and then walked ahead.

Melanie nodded harboring the words and walked faster to her car. Everyone was going to the hospital to see if Isaac had awaken. She was on the fence. She was sure everyone was thinking why she would want to being the whore that came between the Goodwin brothers. Her head fell on the steering wheel.

Her phone went off and she put it to her ear.

"Hello."

"Hi Ms. Davison,"

She straightened. It was the executive that wanted to purchase the rights to her play.

"Is this a bad time?"

"No, not at all."

"I am sorry for any inconvenience this causes you, but we decided not to go forward with the project."

Melanie felt the sky crumbling around her. If this was karma, clearly that bitch had her number.

Author's Note: Hey everyone, I am so glad everyone is enjoying my story. I am loving the comments. I just wanted to let every one know I am going into surgery today and I am posting this chapter just before and I am a ball of nerves.

I understand this is my 1st draft but the fact that you all look past that and see the story and the characters. I love you for that! You rock!
