When I awoke, my leg felt a little better. I zipped open the bag and looked around to find that everyone was gone, except for these two people. This skiny woman and this chubby man. I hopped off the counter sneakily. I wanted to explore a little, but before I could get anywhere, the lady screamed as soon as she saw me
"Get out of here, you dirty fox!"
She had knives in her hand. I was about to run into the forest when suddenly, there was this stampede of people caring pigs charging at the gates. They both scared me to death, so I ran and hid in Gon's backpack. Then I fell asleep, the pain in my leg and my heart returning.
*Gon's POV *
I started to walk back to the clearing to start cooking. I'm so excited to cook. Do I know how? It doesn't matter. I hope Kikumi is ok? Her leg should heal quickly, though. As I walk up to my bag, I see it shaking. 'Kikumi? Is she ok?' I thought. I open my bag to see Kikumi with tears on her face.
"Kikumi?" I ask, worried about her.
She was asleep, cryimg in her dream. She starts to whimper a little. 'Poor Kikumi. She must be in a lot of pain.' I thought.
"Rise and shine, Kikumi." I say.
She opens those bright green eyes and looks at me.
"Yip." She happily says.
*Kikumi's POV*
I woke up to the sound of Gon calling me out. I give a happy yip and I treaded out carefully, as not to get yelled at again. Gon brought up a giant pig to cook. I started to drool a little as the pig roasted quite well. Gon sliced it up and brought it to the mean lady that yelled at me. I sat on his shoulder and yipped a hello. She asked, with a mean tone that Gon didn't notice
"Why do you have a fox on your shoulder?"
"Because she is my pet." He answered simply.
She sighed and tasted the pork. Her face scrunched up and she spat out the pork. She screamed
"THIS PIECE OF MEAT IS NOT EDIBLE. YOU FAIL!!"
I jump in fear of the loud noise and I sprint into the woods. 'I don't like loud sounds. Why does everyone scream?' I think. Before I can run deeper into the forest, I see Killua. I run to him and leap into his arms.
*Killua's POV*
I'm about to bring this pig back to my camp when I see a flash of orange. 'What the heck...?' I think as it leaps into my arms and shivered. 'Kikumi?' I thought.
"Kikumi!? Where are you?" Gon called as he ran up to me. "Oh, good. You found her. I was worried something may have happened to her." Gon says, relieved.
"What made her run in the first place?" I questioned.
Gon sighed and said "Menchi yelled at me about my cooking and that scared Kikumi."
"Oh." I state simply.
"Let's go back and finish the exam."
"Ok." Gon said with a smile.
*Time skip*
*Kikumi's POV*
"You all fail. You don't take cooking seriously. Grr." Menchi said.
I cowered in Gon's backpack when I heard a motor sound. I poked my head out a little and I saw a blimp. I look up to see a old man falling out of the blimp. He lands on the ground.
"Who's that Killua?" Gon asked.
"Its the Hunter's exam chairman, Netero." I hear killua reply.
He coughs and says "I am the chairman of the Hunter exam. Menchi, do you plan to fail everyone?" He asked.
She nodded and said "No one took it seriously enough. Cooking is a art. And they insulted it. Maybe I lost my cool."
"Menchi, let's let everybody take a retest, ok?" The chairman suggests.
"Yes, chairman. Can you give us a ride to Mt. Split-in-half in the blimp?" She asks.
"Of course." Nertro said.
*On the mountain*
As the blimp landed on the peak, I looked in awe at the canyon. 'Wow.' I thought. Menchi declared
"The next challenge will be poached eggs."
Then she jumped off the cliff. As sudden as she jumped, a gust of wind pushed her back up with a egg in her hand. Again, I thought 'Wow.'
"All right. Retrieve those eggs." She said with a smile.
Everyone, including Gon, Killua, Leorio, and Kurapika, jumped off. I sat up there in wait for them. Suddenly, Tompa came over and grabbed me by my scruff. He said with a taunting sneer
"Why, hello little cat. How have you been? I hope you know that I don't like cats. I've been waiting to mess with you."
I twist around and I bite down on his arm until I start to taste blood.
"Ow! That smarts, you little..." He starts.
I climb onto the top of his arm and I reach his neck. Suddenly Leorio said, with danger laced into his words
"Let go of her, Tompa." I hopped of of him and wimpered my way to Gon, making it seem like he did something. Gon put me on his head and walked to the stove. He cooked his egg and asked
"Do you want a bite, Kikumi?"
"Yip." I replied.
He grinned and tossed me up a piece. Gon walked over to Tompa and gave him half of his egg. I didn't question it because he's Gon. I walked over to Kurapika and rubbed my tail against his leg. He looked at me and smiled. I smiled back, thinking 'This is awesome. I feel like I'm apart of a family again. I can't transform yet, though. Soon.'
