6. Beginning

While Zhan was lying down on the bed Yibo tended to him before Simon arrived in the room.

"I thought you don't care about him."

"How can I ever stop caring about him he was is and always be my brother."

"Hmm..."

"Honestly I was glad that he is not close with Anyone because all the people are filthy but I didn't realise how lonely he must have Felt."

"I am sorry but I don't see any reason for you to abandon him."

"My father once beat me with a whip to death just because I had supported Zhan, I know he wanted to use me in order to make Zhan feel bad but how can I let that happen.

He already blamed him for our mother's death I can't allow him to use me to torment him? You must have heard all the rumours about him and how he is treated by the nobles all thanks to him"

Yibo clenched his fists, "So he didn't spare you huh?"

"He does not care for any of us, he has even started to slaughter the innocents on the name of grief and loss of his wife he has gone too far, as far as to support the empress."

"And what are you doing about it "

"All the servants here are loyal to duke my every action is reported to him and after what happened today I am sure we are both on danger."

Yibo also had grave expression,"the empress and duke are working together, the empress wants me dead, she attacked Zhan and duke don't weather both of you live or die"

"That's why i want to send him somewhere far from here before I kill the Duke because Zhan will surely not like it"

"Why?"

"Because even after everything he still yearns for our father's love I am sure he will hate me when I kill him and I can't do that but the truth is that the royal family and the nobility needs some serious cleaning and he hates violence.

How can I tell him that the person he is loyal to is actually a criminal and a human trafficker a person like duke has to die but I am sure he will not support me."

"And that worst part is that I have to help him even if I want or not."

"This country needs a rebellion. And we don't have resources for it yet. No one is willing to support me a son of traitor."

The two just stayed their with deep thoughts not knowing that Zhan was actually listening to them trying his hardest not to cry.

His brother was actually suffering all these years all by himself.

Simon and Yibo stayed with him for few more hours before he fell asleep.

In the morning Zhan's injuries were completely healed,he did his morning routine and was proceeded towards the temple with a heavy heart he wanted to meet his brother after coming back home.

Today he wanted to talk to his brother and tell him and he was thankful that he will always support him and just as he was thinking about it he heard a commotion and the sound of glass breaking.

When Zhan ran towards the hall from where the sound came he saw his father Duke Seth, the powerful man he had always wished to meet but today he felt dread when he saw him he was a brtually beating his brother.

The Duke kicked him and gripped his hair,"you Damn bastard you dared to go against me?"

The duke mercilessly beat him and banged his head against the wall he also broke his arm right them and there while the head butler watched with a smirk.

The Duke picked a chair and was about to throw it towards the Simon but Zhan protected him with his with his body thus taking the hit.

"Zhan! " Simon yelled and held his brother before glaring at the Duke,"you bastard."

Simon then picked up a rod and attacked the Duke with all his might the Duke might be strong but Simon was also his son he gave duke a tough competition.

But in the bed duke overpowered him with one swing he cut of Simon's arm and pressed his face with his foot, and glared at Zhan " I was kind enough to let a pest like you love but not anymore"

While Simon pushed the Duke and stood in front to of Zhan "eyes down you bastard" the Duke warned bit Some continued to glare at him while Zhan held his brother's forearm as he looked with horror at the other arm.

"Brother please listen to duke..."

Simon slightly turned his head and spoke," run away"

Zhan who was dumbstruck, couldn't do anything when Simon was grabbed by the Duke and his eyes were ripped of my the Duke one by one.

"NOOOOO BROTHER!!NO, "Zhan yelled and collapsed on the floor his body gave up.

And the Duke threw Simon to the side as he picked up his sword and walked towards Zhan," you shall pay for your son's Today, I will bring her back"

The Duke raised his sword and aimed towards Zhan but before the sword could touch him Simon blocked it this the sword pierced through his heart.

"B...brother?" Zhan whimpered but his brother only smiled lightly and said ,"just go bunny"

The Duke threw Simon's body away with anger,"FEED IS BODY TO HUNGRY DOGS"

Zhan who watched his brother's body being dragged couldn't help but run out of the building.

He ran out with the  injuries and tears all the way to the temple but just when he reached the temple of goddess another shock waited for him.

As soon as he reached the temple he saw the temple was ransacked and the statute of the goddess was destroyed and Silas was sitting on the floor on his knees with Saintess standing with a sword in front of him.

"SILAS!!!" Zhan ran towards him and picked him up in his arms Silas's body was covered in blood and Zhan bit his hand and place it at Silas mouth but Silas didn't respond much he just said," always believe the goddess" before he died in Zhan's arms.

Engulfed with rage Zhan picked up the sword and aimed at the Saintess but she only screamed before the guards surrounded him.

"THIS MAN HAS KILL THE HIGH PRIEST, ANS HE TRIED TO ATTACK THE SAINTESS."

"NO IT ISN'T TRUE THR SAINTESS IS LYING." Zhan yelled but no one heard him as he was handcuffed and dragged outside with the crowd of people shouting angrily at him.

The people threw stones and different things at him, he wasn't allowed to sit in the carriage and his show were also taken of as he was forced to walk to the palace bare feet under the intense sunlight.

No one stopped when his feets burned no one stopped him when he couldn't keep up with the horse anymore and was dragged against the hot ground.

While the crowd either yelled at him or laughed at him, or wished even worse for him.

No one helped him.

He was dragged all the way to the castel and forced to work to the dungeon, before he was thrown in.

Zhan forced himself to sit up , one by one today's events flashed before his eyes and slowly tears flew down his cheeks before he burst into crying.

Why is it happening why everything is going astray what went wrong?
