55. Bastina

"How are you brother, Zhehan? A-Xiang and A-Yuan asked him and he only smiled gently.

"I am fine, how about you two?"

A-Yuan and A-Xiang smiled but something was off about their smile, the two were still a little shocked after yesterday's events.

"We are fine as well," A-Xiang answered, "Brother have some tea, I made it especially for you."

Zhehan smiled and nodded, these two kids have changed a lot, they look healthy now and they look in much better condition.

Zhehan then gently placed a hand on A-Yuan's shoulder, "A-Yuan is everything okay?"

A-Yuan smiled and tried to avoid Zhehan's eyes, "Everything is okay, brother, it's just that...Brother Simon and Brother Zhan had an argument yesterday."

Zhehan was curious now, "Argument?"

A-Yuan nodded and before Zhehan could ask anything else Simon came there, "Welcome Marquis."

Simon said with his same smile, A-Xiang poured some tea for him as well, as he sat down on the sofa and gestured for Zhehan to sit as well.

"Good morning, Duke."

"Good morning, Marquis," Simon said as he took a sip of his tea, "So what brings you here?"

Zhehan also sipped his tea and gave a thumbs up to A-Xiang, who smiled brightly, "Well, Duke I wanted to thank you for helping me last night."

"Oh that was nothing, by the way, it was A-Yuan who dropped you home."

"Thanks, A-Yuan."

"No problem brother Zhehan."

Zhehan then again turned to Simon, "Even then I would like to thank you for listening to me babbling, it must be irritating for you."

Simon laughed, "No, No, it was nothing you have done the same thing for me before."

"Um..." Zhehan stopped and looked at A-Xiang and A-Yuan, when Simon saw his gaze he spoke, "You two have you practiced today?"

A-Yuan replied, "Yes, Brother Zhan took care of our training today while you were sleeping."

Simon nodded, "Alright, go and play."

The two nodded and left after saying farewell to Zhehan.

"So...what is it?"

Zhehan drank his tea while Simon waited patiently for him to speak, "Duke...last night...I think it was my imagination, but I still want to confirm whether you had said that thing or not."

Simon crossed his legs, "what is it?"

"Um...last night when you had put me into carriage you said that you were sorry for what happened and that you will try to find out why it happened."

Simon nodded gently, " Yeah I did say that."

" Um... after this you said another sentence I want to ask about whether you really said it or not."

Simon stopped at his place once he realized what he had said, 

'I hope Zhan is not behind this'

Simon's hands went cold as he thought about what he had said, he had not thought that Zhehan would remember something like this, but Zhehan did.

And that the worse part is that Simon did say that sentence was not imagination and the worst part is that Simon's suspicions were true.

What should he say now? Should he say yes? and tell Zhehan everything? but then he thought what Zhan had said to him a few minutes ago.

"Go ahead do it, but please think of the consequences of your actions."

It was obvious what would happen, Baron Vespera was close to Zhehan of he said that Zhan was the one who killed Baron then Zhehan will not sit quiet, god knows what he will do.

Probably fight Zhan and try to kill him and involve the court, and if that happens then Simon would have to be the witness, and if Zhan is proven guilty and worse if his powers are revealed then...

Simon's heart skipped a beat, he was filled with terror just by the thought that Zhan could get killed, and it all depended on Simon, his words mattered a lot.

And what about Zhan? he can kill Zhehan in seconds if Zhehan had drunk his blood and after what happened last night it was clear that Zhan had more power than he had told anybody, and Zhan also hates Adeena for some reason and because of his hatred he killed Adeena's parents.

What is to take revenge he will kill Zhehan as well.

No! Zhehan was important to Simon, he just realized this but Zhehan was important to him.

"Duke?" Zhehan called out to him and Simon was bought back to reality, he smiled and kept his cup n the table before standing up.

"I was thinking about what I had said last night, and I am sorry to say I can't remember anything after that sentence, all I remember was saying the last goodbye before telling A-Yuan to take you home."

Zhehan sighed with relief, "Thank god." He mumbled, " I am sorry for bothering you with something so small."

"No, no, it's nothing, you can always come here," Simon said.

"Anyways, I should leave now, it was nice talking to you as always."

"Leaving so soon marquis?" Zhan came to them and stood beside Simon.

"Lord Zhan, how are you?" Zhehan asked with a smile, although his suspicion about Simon's sentence had gone What Adeena had said about his blood was still lingering in his mind.

"I am fine, Marquis," Zhan said and glance at Simon, "by the way, there is this festival coming soon, right? there will be a carnival in the city right?"

Zhehan smiled brightly, "You are right, the festival is known as  Bastina it is said that the first ruler of this world had inherited the knowledge from goddess Ankh and Duat, and after that, he went on to become the greatest ruler because of whom life was able to flourish.

It's a ten days long festival, I am sure since you two have not been here for ten years, it will be a good experience for you two."

"Simon just smile while Zhan spoke, "I am even more excited no, I have heard about his festival but now I finally got the chance to witness it."

"You will surely, enjoy it. Anyways I should leave now."

"Have a safe trip" Zhan said and Zhehan finally left, once Zhehan was gone Simon was also about to leave.

"What didn't you tell him, anything brother?"

Simon paused for a second, "I don't think I am obligated to tell you anything." 

Zhan then smiled, even if Simon didn't tell him anything, Zhan knows that Simon would never do anything to put him in danger, after all this man suffered for years under duke and died a horrible death just to protect Zhan.

How can he ever put Zhan in danger.
