37. Punishment

The next day when Irene woke up she got dressed and followed her usual routine but when she reached the stairs she felt someone push her from behind.

Irene lost her balance and soon her body collided with that hard stairs as she screamed and soon fell all the way down her head colliding with the hard floor.

Sapphire was scared out of her wits but as soon as she turned around she saw Simon and Zhan and the duke standing there.

The duke ran towards Irene in his weak state and picked her up, "IRENE!!! IRENE!!! WAKE UP IRENE PLEASE!!!" but Irene's blood loss was way too much.

She looked at the duke and wanted to say something but no vice came out of her mouth and in the end, she died in the duke's arm.

"IRENE!!!AHHHHHH" Simon had a grim face and so did Zhan, it was time for Irene to be set free she had been entangled in this mess for way too long it was time for her to rest now.

Sapphire who was shocked out of her wits applied and ran out of the house bare feet she ran all the way to her house.

When she entered her house her family was still sleeping and when they saw Sapphire they were shocked to see her in that state. Sapphire was trembling and went to her room and locked it.

"Saphire, Saphhire what's wrong?" Her father knocked on the door followed by her mother all of them tried to make Sapphire come out and talk but she didn't answer and didn't say anything, she was just too scared.

She had killed the duchess, the duchess whom the duke loved so much, how will she survive the duke will not spare her and her family what should she do?

At this time Count Churchill heard a commotion and when he ran to see what was going on he saw the dead bodies of his servants and the duke stood in front of him with a bloodied sword in his hand.

The count shivered and the duke looked at him before walking towards him the count fell on the floor and crawled backward, "Duke..what's wrong..."

He couldn't even complete his sentence before the duke beheaded him and this was seen by his wife who was beheaded next followed by all Sapphire's siblings.

Sapphire breathed heavily and her hands went cold her eyes went wide as she cried and her heart felt like it would just come out of her heart after she heard all the screams and the heavy footsteps that stopped out of her room's door.

In the next second the door of her room opened with a bang and there stood the duke covered in blood as he stared at her he looked like a true devil.

Sapphire collapsed on the floor with fear, "MERCY HAVE MERCY DUKE PLEASE HAVE..."Sapphire couldn't complete her sentence when the duke swung his swords and in one smooth move beheaded her.

The duke stood in the bloody room before he heard the knights barging on the count's house and the knights soon surrounded him.

Then Zhehan walked in front of him and said, "Duke Seth WeiXiao you are under arrest for killing count Churchill on his family."

The duke who had lost his mind raised his sword and attacked Zhehan but Zhehan dodged it and overpowered the duke before tying him up and ordering the knights to take him away.

Once the duke was put of sight Simon and Zahn stepped in and Zhehan looked at them, "Thank you for reporting it to us, you both will definitely be rewarded for this."

He then walked out of the room on the same day, the duke was placed in front of the emperor, "Duke Seth WeiXiao is it true that you have killed the Churchill family"

The empress who was furious and mad about her plan had failed watched and so did the two princes.

The duke didn't say anything he couldn't hear anything he had completely gone numb, Zhehan then spoke,  "your majesty please let his sons testify"

The emperor nodded and Simon and Zhan stepped forward. "Tell the court about what happened?"

Simon said," Your majesty my mother Irene who wanted lady Sapphire to be a perfect daughter-in-law was teaching all the rules of the household but she was a little strict in her teaching, and lady Sapphire couldn't take it,

So she pushed my mother down the stairs which caused her death and my father who loved my mother too much couldn't take it anymore and lost his mind and in his frenzy, he killed Lady Sapphire and her family."

The court went silent, and the emperor sighed, "Duke, I had a huge respect for you, you were a very important pillar of our empire but alas, for killing Count Churchill's family you will spend the rest of your life in prison"

The duke didn't say anything and the emperor continued, "In the absence of the duke I shall announce his eldest son Simon Wen WeiXiao as the new duke of the Aakkrian empire." 

Simon bowed before the emperor, "I accept it, your majesty" 

The crows soon burst into cheers, "Your majesty please allow me to accompany to the dungeon"

"Allowed"

So then Zhan along with the Empress's father Raymond Kyrith went to the dungeon, "Sir Kyrith please allow me some alone time with my father I would like to bid him a proper farewell"

Raymond nodded, and Zahn was left alone with Seth.

"You know what father I am actually very happy today"

Seth looked at Zhan while his face was covered with a sinister smile, "today you got what you deserved, today you are at the very place where you deserve to be, I am so glad father"

"What do you mean?"

"Haha let me make it more miserable for you, father it was all my plan, all along I was the one who controlled her mind and told her to hate you.

I was the one who had asked her to abuse you and all the servants, I was the one Who suggested Sapphire kill Irene and I was the one who gave her the order to give you slow poison which will slowly drive you insane, hahaha" Zhan then finally left.

Seth who was shocked out of his wits thought that he was met with a monster, Zhan had a very crazed look in his eyes, "Enjoy your stay here father while I will make sure to give her a good funeral."

The duke was dumbstruck and by the time he gained his sense Zhan was already out, The duke yelled and yelled but everyone thought that he is already gone insane.

Raymond said, "You must be sad after everything that happened."

Zhan smiled," I will be okay soon, by the way, I have heard that sir Raymond was sick these days."

"Ah yes a little bit of sickness but after I drank the medicine by saintess Emerald I am fine."

Zhan suddenly smiled, "So you have drunk the medicine as well...haha perfect."

Raymond stopped, "What do mean?"

Zhan chuckled and his eyes turned red...

Author's note: Ah yes Zhan did the classic villain move here narrating the plan to our victims to make them miserable usually I used to hate this scene in novels comics or movies but today I totally loved this scene here.

I loved this chapter a lot, the duke's family is finally ended.
