Aurora

The next morning I was getting ready to meet up with Harry. When I got back home last night, I spent half of the night trying to piece together the riddle. It took me a while, but I finally got it. 'Only in the darkness am I visible.' There was only one thing that I knew of was visible in the darkness and disappeared in the light. The stars. They held a special place in my heart, just like Harry did and I remember the countless times I told him I wanted to dance beneath the stars and just forget reality. Even if it was only for a little while.

As I continued on to figure out the riddle, for a moment I got stuck at the end, 'Go to the place where you can view me from a place of comfort.' I didn't know what that meant. A place of comfort?

Until I remembered the cabin home he took me not long ago where he had a room made specially for star gazing. It was the perfect place of comfort with a beautiful view.

I glanced at my reflection once more. I adjusted the ankle length, crystal copper satin wrap dress I wore, making sure it looked decent before slipping on a pair of black heels. I pursued my lips together once more, trying to even out the red matte lipgloss I wore and adjusted my hair over my shoulders. I let out a breath of air, my heart already beating rapidly. I took a hold of my purse and car keys before making my way out the door.

The nerves began to kick in as I drove to the cabin. My stomach churning and my hands becoming sweaty. Suddenly I was nervous about meeting with Harry, but as I pulled up to the cabin, I couldn't do much about it besides getting out of the car.

That was exactly what I did. I got out of my car, carefully walking up the the cabin where Harry stood waiting. He wore a baby blue velvet suit that made me weak in the knees. Seeing him standing there made all my doubts and worries wash away. He took a few steps towards me as I continued to walk towards him, meeting me half way. My eyes wandered his features. His slicked back short hair and the stubble beard making him look more handsome than ever.

"Hi." He breathed out with a slight smile. A smile found its way onto my lips at the sound of his voice.

I opened my mouth to speak, afraid my voice would fail me as I stood under his gaze. "Hi."

He brought his hand up, reaching over for my own. I let myself interlock my fingers with his. Holding his hand in that moment, It felt right. "I'm so glad you came."

"Me too." After a while of just standing outside of the cabin, staring at each other without speaking a word, he led me inside. When we finally made it upstairs, I was met with a set table underneath the glass roof where the sun shined down. Harry dropped my hand, quickly walking over to the table and pulling out the chair for me. I coquettishly smiled, taking a seat. He came from around me, taking a seat himself.

"Let's eat first. I prepared fettuccine with a creamy tuscan chicken." Harry removed the lids from the plates, revealing the dishes he mentioned. They looked like perfection. We ate in a comfortable silence, both awaiting of the conversation we were to have after our meal.

"That was delicious Harry. Thank you." He nodded slightly with a smile, gently dabbing his mouth with a cloth.

I reached into my purse, retrieving the small box. I held it in my hands for a few seconds before placing it in front of him. He gazed down at the box before opening it. "You didn't accept the ring."

I reached over for his hand, shaking my head at his statement. "I need to know what it means before I can accept it."

He fixed his gaze to me, his eyes boring into my own, "It's a promise ring."

"What are you promising?"

"To stay. I am promising you that no matter what happens, I won't run. I will be here. For you. For our daughter. I promise to hold you on your worst days and comfort you on your bests. From this day on I promise to only make you smile and never be the reason for your tears. To wipe away every tear that you shed. A promise to never hurt you again and no matter what obstacles come our way we will face them together."

"I accept."

He took the ring out of the box, gently taking my hand and sliding the ring onto my finger. "I promise to marry you one day Aurora."

I smiled, looking down at the ring with tears in my eyes then sat up from my chair, reaching over to kiss him. "I love you."

He stood up, walking over to a shelf, suddenly the sound of music taking over the atmosphere. He walked back over to me and held out his hand, "Dance with me." I ignored the stabbing pain in my chest caused by him not saying it back, instead I stood up and placed my hand on top of his.

He snaked his hands around my waist, holding me close to him. I wrapped my own around his neck as we slow danced to the song Thinking Out Loud. His eyes never left mine and my heart never stopped thumping against my chest at his gaze. I broke eye contact with him, unsure with myself if I could handle it anymore. Instead, I rested my head against his chest, closed my eyes and listened carefully to his beating heart.
