Eugen continues feeding me until we've gone through the entire bowl of fruits. Once it's done, she stands and walks over to a nearby counter where she places the bowl before returning to me, offering her hand in the process. Taking it, I stand and follow as she leads me out of the room and back into the hallway.

Me: Are you just going to leave the bowl there?

Eugen: The staff will take care of it.

Me: Staff?

Eugen: Yes. The base we're currently on has a human staff. They handle all the chores from washing dishes to spreading the bed.

Me: I see, and where are we exactly?

Eugen: We're in Iron Blood.

She accelerates as she speaks but after realising that I can't keep up, she slows down to a halt before looking at me with concern. Even before she speaks, I can tell what's worrying her. To be honest, it's also been worrying me from the moment I left the room.

Eugen: You're still not feeling ok, are you?

I open my mouth to lie but I can't quite bring myself to do it. As such, I tell her about how I'm feeling, ending with the fact that I am indeed much weaker than I was before. My legs are handling my weight much better than when I woke up but they're still struggling under the weight. I'm also feeling a bit lightheaded but she definitely doesn't need to know that.

Eugen: Come, we'll go to get your check-

Me: I'm fine. Don't worry. I just need time to recover. I should be back to normal soon.

I can't tell whether she believes me or not but she doesn't push further, instead, simply nodding before taking my hand once more as she leads me outside. Once we exit the building, she guides me across the courtyard and towards the gates of the compound. I am surprised by how beautiful everything is but I don't get time to take it in as sirens begin blaring.

The look on Eugen's face says it all as the sirens grow louder and louder. Girls that were still inside now rush outside, making their way out of the compound as fast as they possibly can. In the distance, I can hear gunfire erupting as a battle begins. Eugen gets separated from me in the crowd as we both are swept along by the rush of girls. All I can do is simply try to stay on my feet, knowing full well that if I fall I will be trampled.

Looking up, I finally spot our attackers. It's an air raid. Thankfully, it seems we already have some fighters in the air but given the rather large target the crowd I am in now presents to the bombers, one can't help but begin to feel a sense of dread. All it would take is a single bomber to target us and...

Me: Fu-

An explosion sends my body flying across the courtyard, throwing me through a wall in the process. As the concrete crumbles and falls on top of me, however, I notice that the impact itself didn't hurt. What's more, apart from being pinned down by the fallen concrete, I'm not feeling injured in any way.

Me: He-

My voice gets drowned out as more bombs explode nearby sending all manner of debris my way. Afraid of being buried alive, I scream for help but I can't tell whether anyone has heard me or not as the few voices I hear in the wind grow fainter and fainter until they cease entirely.

Now completely buried, with both my hands and feet pinned by fallen debris, I've all but resigned myself to my fate when I hear a voice nearby calling my name. I can't make out who it is but that certainly doesn't matter now. Friend or foe, as long as they get me out of here!

Me: Help-

The vibrations caused by my voice cause dirt to fall down onto my face, forcing me to slam my mouth shut but before long, I can hear debris being moved as more voices join in, calling out. Excited at the prospect of being rescued, I begin trying to help myself break free by attempting to move. Bad move.

While I manage, somehow, to pull one hand free the movement and subsequent removal of my hand causes a large boulder-sized piece of the wall to fall straight onto my chest. Pain rips through my body, forcing me to writhe in agony but by moving even more debris fall down forcing an involuntary scream from my lips but even as it escapes my vision darkens until it goes black.
