Expecting them to come back in with the entire army behind them, I wait for a few more minutes but after no one enters or leaves I decide to continue on. We've racked up quite the tab but thankfully I'd received my "pay" in advance and as such have more than enough to cover this meal. Even without the cash, I was given a special card which supposedly allows me to purchase anything I want without paying upfront though in such a scenario the bill is merely forwarded to my office. Such could prove useful for major bulk orders but for something like this...I can't imagine the number of problems the restaurant owner would have to go through to get his money in an acceptable time frame.

Stepping out on the street reveals that things are fairly normal. We get a few glances here and there but no one tries to stop us as we move about. Still, as we head in the direction of the HQ, Roon finally speaks up.

Roon: Are you mad at me?

Me: No. Why do you think that?

Roon: Well, it's just that you haven't said anything since...well...you know.

Sighing, I turn to face her to make sure she knows I'm focusing on her.

Me: Roon, I'm not mad at you. Okay?

She doesn't seem particularly convinced but drops the matter as our destination comes into view. Choosing to deal with the matter later, I too refrain from continuing instead merely focusing on the task at hand.

As we pass through the gates to the compound, no one stops us. In fact, no one gives us so much as a glance as though we're not newcomers to the area. However, when we enter the building, I'm immediately greeted by the staff.

????: Kriegsmarschall! You're early!

I raise an eyebrow at that.

????: Forgive me...I'm Roselyn Schubert, at your service ma'am.

As she says this she snaps her feet together and performs a similar albeit less refined form of the same salute I'd seen the others give the Fuehrer. Her clumsiness is adorable but no one laughs at her due to it. In fact, once they all realise who I am they all move to do the same.

Roon: Kriegsmarschall?

Me: So you really never noticed anything that was going on during the trip from the capital, after all.

Roon looks down, embarrassed, but I merely give her a playful slap before refocusing my attention on the woman before me.

Me: I take it you're my assistant?

Bergmann: That she is.

Turning, I find Bergmann walking towards us with some file in hand. Roselyn, still stiff as a doornail, maintains her position even as he comes to a stop beside her.

Me: Are you all going to keep that salute up until you starve to death?

Bergmann: I told them you aren't as serious as the others about this sort of thing but they wouldn't listen.

Roselyn: But sir! She had an officer's head bashed in just-

I can't tell who gives her a more deathly glare, me or Roon but regardless I can practically see the words block her throat as they come to a screeching halt in an attempt to return to her lungs.

Me: Which reminds me, have they gathered as yet?

Roselyn: Wasn't the meeting-

Me: Yes or no, Schubert.

She gulps, clearly scared to the bone. Behind her, the others do everything in their power to make themselves as small as possible to avoid my passing gaze.
