It's been roughly a week and a half since this campaign began and things have gone well, too well. I expected to progress smoothly but between my aggressive pushing and the enemy being non-existent, we're already inside of Finland. Norway and Sweden have already been partially restored and as my plan had demanded, have been given independence in exchange for their unwavering support. This has solved any immediate problems with supplies and since we no longer needed to garrison their territory, Bergmann was able to join in the offensive.
Bergmann: So what's the plan?
Me: We will continue forward by focusing our push south to establish a united front with our allies here. At the same time, however, I'd like to see about gaining us some new partners.
Bergmann: Oh?
Me: The Northern Parliament's KANSEN are all mostly blockaded here and if we can get them to surrender then our land forces can move to occupy the region without much resistance as right now those girls are the only thing keeping our forces back.
Bergmann: Would they surrender?
Me: That depends on whether they'll listen to reason or not. In any case, they must be dislodged and if they won't negotiate, we'll level the city.
A look of surprise crosses his face at that but he doesn't comment. I, for one, know that such a thing would be a pretty harsh fate to subdue people to but we cannot afford to be bogged down in any one area and the sooner we secure the entirety of the baltic, the better. Winter shouldn't be as big of an issue here since the Sakura Empire is keeping all the Siberian forces locked on the other side of the nation for now but I don't have much faith in their ability to hold them there for long. If memory serves, they are pretty useless on open terrain against a much more sophisticated force. Though I suppose their only deficiency is their tanks or rather the lack thereof. I honestly don't see how anyone could ever consider those abominations as tanks.
Me: Where's Friedrich?
Bergmann: You mean the woman that has been trying to get in here for the past hour or so that claims to be your mother?
A small bubbly giggle escapes my lips at that. The smirk on his face tells me he is teasing me but rather than entertain him further, I begin making my way towards the entrance and sure enough, there she is arguing with the guards. The minute she sees me, she lights up.
Me: Mother...
The look of dismay that crosses the guards' faces at that moment is priceless. If I didn't know better, I'd think they expect to be executed posthaste. Alas, if she didn't kill them for preventing her from entering then I see no reason for me to take it upon myself to not do the same.
FDG: I didn't hurt them-
Me: Yes, a major improvement I'm sure.
Turning to the guards, I signal for them to let her in. I'm not sure why they'd stop her to begin with, however, given she's been assigned as one of the commanding officers. Now that I think about it, why didn't she just use her station to get past them?
As the thought continues passing through my mind, my eye catches sight of a glimmer in the light. My head snaps in its direction just in time to see all the guards in the room draw their guns. All at once, my brain calculates everything and for the first time, I notice that I don't recognise any of them.
Me: Get down!
As I shout the command, I attempt to dive but long before I can, the first bullet reaches my head. It ricochets off and into a nearby wall. I can't tell who is more surprised at that, me or the enemy but neither of us gets the time to process it before the confusion within the room is replaced with RAGE and FEAR.
FDG: I'll kill you for that.
She says it so calmly it sends shivers down my spine. Even as I recover, she's already walking toward the men. Around her, the air flickers as though radiating with heat. They open fire once more but much as with their attack on me, their bullets bounce aimlessly off her skin. Realizing their efforts or futile, some begin turning to run but they don't get that chance.
BOOOOOM!
As the smoke clears, there is nothing but rubble remaining. The few remaining survivors all cough from the dust and smoke as others arrive on the scene to find out what is happening.
Me: (Coughs) Did you have to put a hole in the building?
FDG: Oh my...(rushes over)...how are you? Are you hurt? Show me where-
Me: I'm fine.
Bergmann: What the hell happened?
Me: Some men tried to kill me.
Bergmann: What?
Me: Your friend, our deputy fuehrer, wants me dead.
Bergmann: What? Nonesense! Don't go-
Ignoring him, I walk over to the one man still conscious. As I approach, I can see fear fill his eyes but I only want information from him. Still, I've just about run out of mercy for the day and so when I reach him, rather than deal gently, I grab him by the hair and drag him out of the fallen rubble without regard to any crushed limbs or bones. He screams in agony but I show no remorse. After taking a handgun from a nearby corpse, I set him to rest in front of everyone.
Me: Who sent you?
He hesitates and in response, I raise the gun to his forehead. Everyone else in the room remains silent as they all take in the proceedings. The actual guards that were supposed to be on watch are also present but they don't make any moves to suggest they were a part of whatever scheme this is.
????: Please...
Me: Name, now.
????: Reichsfuehrer Heinrich Himm-
BAM!
As his body falls to the ground I toss the gun onto his corpse. The others are shocked. I can see it written all over their faces though I can't tell what shocks them. Perhaps it was my actions or perhaps it was the name he said. It matters not.
Me: You!
????: Yes ma'am!
Me: Find Roselyn and have her meet me in my office immediately. The rest of you clean up this mess and ensure I am not disturbed.
Despite my instructions, everyone remains stationary as though they didn't hear me. When I cast a glance their way, however, they all hasten off to their assigned tasks. Perhaps they were merely in shock?
Me: Mother, gather the girls and have them join our meeting.
Bergmann: Can I-
Me: You're invited too.
Without waiting for any further acknowledgement, I turn and begin walking towards the nearest room with a long-distance radio in it. Once there, I order the crew to patch me through to the Fuehrer palace directly. They attempt and after some minor difficulty, I'm speaking with the Fuehrer directly.
Fuehrer: I hope-
Me: Your deputy is going to attempt a coup.
