Like a deer in headlights, she stood in front of her roommate. "Listen Melanie, I can explain!" Y/n rushed to figure out an answer. "I uh have a sugar daddy!"
Melanie simply smirked. "I knew it! I knew it! I knew it! you had a sugar daddy this whole time and you didn't tell me if he had a female friend looking for a sugar baby."
Y/n's eyes furrowed. "Wait? What?"
"I think it's a complete betrayal that you wouldn't think about your pussy starved best friend."
"Mel are you serious right now?" Y/n couldn't tell if Melanie was joking or if she was seriously upset at her about that.
Melanie shook her head. "No I'm not actually mad, I was really just worried because you were acting a little different, but now that I knew why, I can rest easy knowing you working that bag."
"Oh well yeah, I mean I quit my job to work for my sugar daddy's uh law firm. What did you think I was doing?" She chuckled.
"Going out with Leo again. That good for nothing asshole who steals your car when it benefits him."
She had a point. The guy liked to walk in and out of her life. It was toxic, but he was the only boyfriend she had ever known so it was hard to break him off, especially since he always seemed to know how to waltz back in.
"Well no I haven't even talked to Leo in weeks, and he hasn't taken my car in a while, probably because he's dating that one blonde haired chick that turns her papers in hella late in history."
Melanie thought for a moment. "Ohh really? I didn't think she was his type."
"Who knows, who cares. I'm over it."
"What's in the bag?" Melanie tipped her head towards the dress wrapped in opaque white plastic and the paper sack carrying her shoes and clutch.
Y/n smiled. Since she told a little white lie, she could indulge Melanie on her inquiry. "A little present for and from my sugar daddy."
Melanie squealed. "Ahh show me right now." Y/n sat the items on the couch and lifted the plastic up for her to see the dress. "Oh my god Y/n! You're gonna look so hot in that!"
"I know girl! And I was wondering if I could borrow your auburn wig for the night?" She gave Melanie a wide tooth grin in hopes she would say yes.
Melanie, being an overprotective mother over her wigs, was very cautious about sharing her wigs. Besides she had never even gotten to wear the auburn wig yet. "I guess..." She mumbled under her breath.
"Thank you! Thank you!" Y/n hugged her.
Melanie tried to stifle her smile at her giddy peer, but she couldn't help but let the excitement get to her as well. "Tell me more about this sugar daddy of yours, what's his name, what's he like?"
Y/n knew those questions would eventually find a way out of Melanie's mouth. The girl was as nosy as a next door neighbor when it came to stuff like boyfriends. However, Y/n didn't want to give up too much about Chris. She didn't even know if he truly wanted her for the right reasons. Sure they flirted and over the past couple of months and they had grown closer, but she still had a small feeling in her gut telling her to hold back a bit. A piece of her needed that protection.
"He's a tall brown haired white guy with a beard, and we started taking after he hired me as an assistant for him." Y/n gave her a general description of Chris. "It's nothing even serious Mel so don't make a big deal about it."
Melanie scoffed and turned the lights out. "Well hun, it sounds like it's a big deal to me, a big deal with a big package too." She said with a smirk Y/n couldn't see in the black room. Melanie made her way past Y/n and into her bedroom.
Rolling her eyes, Y/n made her way to her own bedroom. She sat the dress on the rack in the small closet along with the bag with the shoes and clutch. She stretched her limbs out and got ready for a quick shower.
After her shower she got some leftovers from the medium sized black refrigerator. Like normal she did her routine before slipping into her chair to finish some homework. A few more weeks and she would be done with college. For good.
Her phone vibrated the table causing her to sit up in a slight panic. She rubbed her eyes and realized that she had dozed off while reading Thucydides. She checked her phone that read the late hours of 12:37 am.
Chris: Just saw the cost of your little shopping spree. You know you were free to spend more.
She chuckled to herself. For someone with so much money he was sure willing to try and spend it all.
Y/n: Didn't want to go overboard, besides I think I overspent for just one night.
Chris sat in his bed, dodger curled up next to him while he texted. He couldn't help but want to give her the world. He was definitely trying.
Chris: You could never overspend when it comes to yourself honey.
Chris: What are you doing up this late anyway? You have school, get some rest.
He felt like he had to get on her about her sleep. Sometimes he'd walk into her office just to see her resting her eyes. He never bothered her, instead he mentally captured the soft look of her sleeping before he slowly closed the door back. She'd done this a few times and it was usually after she had just gotten out of class.
Y/n: I could ask you the same sir, I scheduled your meeting early in the morning. You should get some rest too.
Chris: late night at the office, but I'll go to bed as soon as you do.
Y/n: Fine, I'm going to bed now. Goodnight.
Y/n put her phone down and started looking back over the textbook. Her eyes got dreary again. The little black spots started to pepper her vision.
Chris: Goodnight honey
Chris: And I'm serious, get your ass in bed.
Y/n took that as her sign to retire to the comfort of her bed.
