Rhea's PoV:Why should we meet him after all these years?
"Of course, dad." I said smiling awkwardly.
This is so awkward.
"Mr Singhania." I said in greeting.
He is my mom's best friend's husband. My mom had lost contact with her friends after marriage.
We accidentally met once in my childhood when I was 11 during our family trip. His family and my family spent 5 days in a resort. That was the first time I had met my mom's friends. Dad and Mr Singhania are also college mates. My mom sometimes used to talk about her 2 close friends with who she lost contact. But unfortunately, my mom enjoyed it so much with her friends in that resort that she forgot to take their contacts and again lost contact.
"Oh come on child you still haven't changed. You still call me the same." He said chuckling
Of course. His aura demanded respect and dominance. Even in my childhood, I used to be afraid of him and only used to call him Mr Singhania. Everyone tried to make me call him uncle in those 5 days but it never happened.
Now I am not scared but still, the aura around him makes me give him respect.
"Please, have a seat, sir." I said ushering him towards the couch. Niki sat there clueless.
"Call me uncle dear." I just smiled awkwardly mumbling a quite okay.
Yeah, right uncle.
Niki sat there still not knowing what to do. I nudged her a little and she came out of her trance. She looked at me like a lost soul. Giving her a slight nudge I signalled her through my eyes and pulled her elbow to make her stand. She greeted Mr Singhania oops uncle. Then she took her things and moved to the seat opposite my chair and got indulged in the reports again.
Why is she, my friend?
My dad and uncle took a seat and started talking about all the years they missed spending together.
It's been 15 years since I last met him.
I went out to bring some coffee for them.
Taking two cups with me I walked to my cabin. In my cabin doorway, I met Sam.
"Ma'am Mr Oberoi is awake." She said eyeing my coffee cups.
"Yeah, I will be in there in 10 minutes."
"Okay, ma'am." She replied.
"Other two?" I questioned her balancing the cups.
"They are still under the painkillers ma'am."
"Okay." She was about to go when I stopped her.
"Uh, Sam could you open the door for me, please?" I asked glancing at the coffee cups.
"Sure, ma'am." She opened the door for me. Saying her thank you I went to find my dad and uncle still conversing.
"...Raj" I heard as I closed the door with my foot. Dad kept his hands-on uncle shoulder patting lightly. I kept the cups on the table and glanced at Niki to find her in a call.
"Coffee." I gave them the cups.
"Thank you, child." He smiled at me warmly.
I sat there quietly not bothering to disturb their conversation and was staring oblivion.
