I felt that the song above by Imagine Dragons fit well between the relationship of Riley and Grace. Enjoy!

Riley

Everything was normal for four days. Well, if you call pacing around in worry for four days normal. I'd gotten inconclusive test results. And, for some strange reason, Grace Raine hadn't told me her results.

On that fourth day, the Clave talked to Charles, Grace Raine's dad, who's the head of the Shorthorn Institute. Obviously, you already know what they said.

Arriving at the main city- scratch that, only city- it was quite obvious there was a demon on the loose. Suddenly, a foggy form flew past us. If you had blinked, you wouldn't have known it was there.

Then, there was the dialogue you already know that I'm going to say anyways. Because why not.

"It can't be...," Grace Raine said.

"Moloch," I finished.

"A Greater Demon?" Charles asked in disbelief. "How?"

"No idea," Mom added. "The last time a Greater Demon rose was when that Morgenstern kid was on the loose. I think it was Lilith."

"How do we kill fog?" John asked impatiently.

"We can't. Even if we could, Moloch is a Greater Demon. They can't be killed." Grace Raine replied.

"Since when do you study Greater Demons?" I asked.

Honestly, who knows this stuff off the top of their head? I haven't read the Codex since about two years before this incident.

"When was the last time you read the Codex?" Grace Raine asked everyone.

"A while ago," we all replied in harmony.

Grace Raine glared at all of us. With- you guessed it!- the look.

"So, Jonathan, Jezebel, you guys go on the right side of town and lead Moloch to the center of town if he heads towards you." Grace Raine told a Blackthorn and Mrs. Lightwood.

"Dad, John, Amber, you take the right. Lead Moloch to the center if he strays out towards y'all."

"I'm gonna go get Magnus, and maybe see if he has a spell. After that, Riley and I will take the center."

"No," Charles and Mom said at the same time.

Grace Raine and I both rolled our eyes. "It's the only way we can catch Moloch! Stop being so protective!" we said in sync.

Jonathan's eyes widened. Everyone else, except Jezebel- as usual- started to laugh.

"Got us there," Charles replied.

"Hurry back," Mom added.

"We will," Grace Raine and I replied in sync. Again.

"So...Moloch," I say when we were well out of earshot. "And Magnus will just happen to have a spell?" I asked curiously.

"He's a very powerful warlock. It's said that he helped with the Morgenstern problem." Grace Raine shrugged. "He got people out of Hell- literally. I say he might be able to help."

I raised my eyebrows. "Is this about the fact that he's a powerful warlock or that you think he's cute?" Granted, any person in the Shadow World who went for guys thought he was cute. Frankly, I thought this was blocking Grace Raine's judgement.

Grace Raine stopped walking to slap my arm. "The fact that he's a 'shadowhunter friendly' warlock! Though, I suppose, his hotness does play in..."
