Thank you, Grace. Leave it to me to tell the worst stuff. I really hate you.
Well, alright. It seemed everything was all bright and sunny in our lives for once, right? Well, it was. 'Till, you know, we got to Anthracite. Let's just say, if mundanes weren't so oblivious to the entire world (no offense, it's just the truth), there would've been anarchy. Even though its Institute was strong, it wasn't strong enough.
"Shit," Grace Raine said under her breath though all four of us could hear. Grayson and Dayton looked at her curiously.
"Not what you expected?" Grayson asked.
"Not exactly... I thought it'd be more...," Grace replied, but trailed off as she couldn't think of the right way to word it.
"Orderly," I finished for her.
Dayton looked at me confusedly then. "What d'ya mean? Anthracite's one of the most orderly factions."
"For mundanes," Grace Raine and I said without thinking.
Grayson looked at us with his eyebrows furrowed. Instead of saying anything, he just said, "Transfers stay over there." He pointed to a run down building in the center of... wherever we were. "You stay there till you pass initiation. See ya on the other side." With that, Grayson and Dayton walked away to who-knows-where.
"Well, guess we should go to the uninhabited Transfer house and give it two members. We're probably the first transfers in forty years," I said, dragging a reluctant Grace Raine towards the three-story building. "It'll be like living in the Institute," I joked.
"Not so fast," a voice behind us said. I recognized the voice, but it was neither Grayson or Dayton.
"Who...?" Grace said, turning around, only to come face-to-face with an almost six-foot tall shadowhunter with auburn hair and blue eyes. "Quincy?" Grace Raine questioned.
"Wait, you're an actual living, breathing shadowhunter?" I asked in confusion.
Quincy rolled his eyes. "I was about to ask you guys the same question."
Grace Raine and I look at each other. "Wait... He was in your Test?!" We asked in sync.
Suddenly, there was Jack, in all his blond hair, blue eyed glory. "Awww man. I was hoping it wasn't them," he said.
"Nice to see you too," Grace growled. Literally growled.
I punched her in the shoulder. "Calm down... You don't want to accidentally shift," I whispered.
"What was that?" Quincy mocked.
"Shut up," I growled- though I didn't, you know, actually growl.
Jack elbowed Quincy's forearm. "Weren't you going to bring them to the Institute?"
"Yeah, yeah," Quincy muttered. He then looked at us, "Well, come on, we don't have all day!"
Grace Raine looked at me, fear in her eyes. She didn't want these people to know she was a werewolf, well at least not yet.
I shrugged. There was nothing I could do about it.
"You're so very helpful sometimes," she sarcastically said aloud.
"Thanks, I know," Quincy replied with a smirk.
Grace shot him a dirty look. "Not you. You're about as helpful as a dead cat."
"I shall take that as a compliment," he said, continually marching to the Institute.
