Okay, I'm narrating now, and that's that. No more interruptions, right? I can't hear you!

Right! Now continue the damn story or I'll wrestle that mic from your hands!

Alright, fine. No need to snap at me like that, Grace Raine.

Looking back, I should've realized that the person waiting for us at the border would be one of Magnus' close friends. Maybe I did realize it, but didn't want to accept it?

Anyways, I would've been fine with any other of Magnus' friends, except for Catarina Loss. You see, when Grace Raine and I were... what? Fourteen?

Fifteen! Get your facts straight, Riley! She only nearly branded it-

And stop spoiling the story! I have a bad memory, okay?!

Back to the warlock. When Grace Raine and I were fifteen, we had the misfortune of getting on Catarina Loss' bad side. See, she has an obsession of using her abilities for "good". She literally works at a mundane hospital in... Candor. Which is kinda ironic, seeing that she glamours herself as a mundie.

So, anyways, when we ran into each other at some shadowhunter convention, Grace Raine and I may or may not've stated that that was incredibly stupid. Needless, to say, the centuries-old warlock (I don't know exactly how old she is, and I'm not gonna stop and ask) got quite mad. She went on and on about how shadowhunters and mundies alike don't see how blessed they are and blah blah blah. Then, there was something about how insolent teenagers wouldn't understand what she was saying anyways. Followed by something being snapped back about how maybe she'd lived too long and needed to go die, and the next thing I knew, werewolves and shadowhunters alike were splitting us up so Grace Raine and I wouldn't have 15 branded onto our arms for the rest of our lives. And, we hadn't seen her since.

"I am going to kill Magnus Bane the next time I see him...," Catarina muttered after our little standoff.

A puff of smoke led to Magnus Bane standing in between Dayton, Grace Raine, Catarina and I.

"Well, personally, I'd enjoy not getting killed today."

I rolled my eyes and groaned. "What're you doing here?"

"We're in Patriotic territory! I wanted to join along too!"

"If you're so eager to get going, let's get going!" Grace Raine snapped.

"Someone's feisty today." Magnus waggled his eyebrows.

"Oh, brother. This is going to be a long trip."

"You know it," Magnus smirked.

"Okay, let's stop the flirting and get a move on," I said impatiently.

"I can't believe I'm saying this, but I agree with the red head," Catarina stated.

"Oh, so the witch did learn kindness after all," Grace Raine said sarcastically.

Magnus stood looking between all of us, quite enjoying himself. Before Catarina could snap back, Dayton interrupted,

"Grace, you're really not helping. If we have to travel with her, I'd like to not have her being hotheaded at your smart remarks."

"Since when do you talk like that?" Grace shot back.

Dayton ran his hand down his face in frustration. "This is exactly what I'm talking about."

Grace Raine smiled a big, cheesy grin. "I know."

I sighed loudly. "At this rate, Grace Raine's mom will be dead for twenty years before we find her."
