Trigger warning (panic attacks)

Maria

Alesso looked livid. His pupils were dilated looking almost devious silver. There was no warmth was in them like it used to. His face has almost white as if seen a ghost and he was sweating. His hands were balled into fists so tightly that his knuckles had turned white. I could see his muscles along his arms were contracted and he was breathing heavily, almost panting for air as if not getting enough air.

He walked in nearly tripping as he took each step. I climbed down one stair to see if he is ok but he looked at me and I could see the fear in his eyes.

"No! Stay there! Don't come near me!" Alesso yelled startling me with his harsh tone. It was more like he was scared. Matteo came from behind him holding his shoulder and guiding him to the living room.

I walked down the stairs either way and walked to them. Alesso was behaving like he was trying to resist himself from doing something. He kept muttering something under his breath.

"No!" He screamed, holding his chest. Is he ok? I was worried now.

"What happened? Are you ok? Can someone tell me?" I was panicking by his state. What is happening, did he get hurt? I walked to him to hold him but Alesso held my arm in a tight grip making me gasp. Matteo tried to remove his hand from the bruise giving grip.

"Alesso you are hurting me!" I tried to remove his hand from mine and so did Matteo but it wasn't working, he had a strong grip as if he let go of me he will never see me again.

"Am I now?" His voice was sinister which made the hair on my neck stand. His eyes were almost black looking evil.

"You don't want to hurt her Alesso, she is your wife! God damn it let go!" Matteo almost snapped at him, he looked so scared. Can someone tell me what is happening? Alesso's nails dug in my skin making me cry out a sob.

"Alesso please!" I pleaded. His hold loosens on my arm and Matteo immediately takes me behind him. "Matteo, take her away! Before I lose myself!" He nods at his command and drags me out of the room.

"What is going on!? Tell me, did he get hurt!? Is he hurting!?" He didn't say a word just dragged me across the hall. I try to thrash out of his hold as he took me in the direction of my bedroom. "Speak you, idiot!" He just gave me a sad smile.

"It's not my story to tell." I could hear Alesso cursing in the living room as if he was really hurt.

I started to tear up, not knowing what to do. Entering my room Matteo left as I tried to get out of the room but he locked it from outside. I tried to wobble the knob to open the door but it wasn't working. I banged on the door for at least someone to hear me and let me out.

"Open up someone, please! He is hurting! Tell me what is happening!" I kept banging on the door. When suddenly there was pin-drop silence, I could clearly hear the crickets from the balcony door. Is it over? Is he ok?

My doubts were so wrong cause I almost miss my heartbeat. And the commotion began. There were banging and screaming noises from downstairs. I could hear the furniture being crashed and thrown around. I was crying helplessly, not knowing what to do.

I could hear him cursing out and Matteo trying to calm him down but it was not helping. Why is he doing this? I slid down the door and sat on the floor, bringing my knees to my chest as I cried. I don't even know what was going on?

The chaos downstairs continued for hours. I was now sitting on the balcony, trying to ignore the noises from downstairs. Holding the cigarette in between my lips I brought the lighter near to lit it. Taking a drag in, I held it in for some time and let the smoke out. The burning sensation as the smoke travelled down my windpipe to my lungs made me forget the anxiousness in my mind.
