Maria.

I was checking through the aisle for wine which Alesso likes. I am making dinner with Lily. She said to keep it simple for my first attempt and not something too complicated.

"Have you taken everything?" Lily asked.

"Yes, we only have to pay and then we can go back home."

We walked towards the cashier who was some old woman in her late 70s, taking a hell of a time to calculate the amount. Aren't they supposed to be retired at this age? I tapped my foot loud purposely in annoyance because she is taking too long.

Give me the calculator, I'll do it for you.

I looked behind me to see Alesso's men standing in guard. Finally paying her we went to our car with our groceries when I bumped into another person.

"Oh, I am sor-"

"Maria?"

I turned to the familiar voice.

"Ivan?" In a matter of seconds, he was pinned on the ground by the guards.

"Stop, let him go! He is my friend." I pushed one of the men who held his collar and another pointed a gun at him, but it was like pushing a stone wall. He looked at Ivan for a bit who held his hand in the air surrendering.

"Hey man, I don't mean any harm." Ivan said but the man didn't move.

"I said let him go!"

I raised my voice a bit trying to show some authority making him let go of Ivan's collar. He stood up dusting some dirt that was on him and I took that time to look at him properly.

His brown eyes looked much darker in shade, black hair had grown a bit than the last time I saw him and is now much taller too, probably 6 feet. What is with these men and their heights?

"I didn't expect to see you here." He says bringing me out of my thoughts.

"Yeah, um, I just came here for some grocery shopping. What are you doing here?"

"I had some work here. I had to drop my new collection of shoes, so I did that." He says making me smile.

"That's good. How is your shoe business going?"

"Is going great. I have got a deal with another customer who lives in Egypt so I would probably meet him tomorrow when I leave." And I nodded with a smile.

"You look different than before." I said as I looked at him. He was more muscular and tanned. Shit, he looks so much hotter than he was.

"Yeah well the last time you saw me was in high school, so I was prone to change." He chuckles.

"Good for you. Are you living here for now?" I asked him as he was wearing a suitcase with him.

"Yeah, searching for a hotel to stay." He scratches the back of his neck.

"Oh. Well, why don't you come with us, to my home? There is a lot of room for you to be and that way you will be able to meet my husband too." I clapped my hands in enthusiasm.

I never had guests before.

"I don't think your husband will like that very much." He said chuckling making me furrow my brows.

"Why not?" Alesso won't have a problem. Right?

"I don't know. I don't want to ruin your privacy." He lets out a sigh.

"You won't. It's not like we have privacy, as there his brother living too, so you can have company." I smiled at him trying to make him agree. There was a long pause as he thought about it.
