Zero POV

Waking up felt unreal. Those first few seconds of gaining back consciousness were peaceful until I notice that I was in a hospital. And then everything came back like a torrent, like a tsunami ready to swallow me whole.

I used to think that the worst part of waking up in a hospital after an attempt is trying to explain to everyone why you did it, but I was wrong. The worst part is waking up and having no one to explain it to. To explain why you did what you did.

How is it possible that I just woke up, and I already want to go back to sleep?

"Your awake sweety?" A nurse stopped once she noticed me.

What the fuck do you think? Are you blind? I didn't reply because it's fucking obvious that I'm up and I don't have time for people and their stupidity.

"Do you need anything, water, apple juice, anything at all? A lot of my patients say that the apple juice is really good."

"I just want you to leave me alone," I spoke out of irritation, instantly feeling my chest sting with guilt once I noticed her face.

"Oh, okay. That's fine just let any of the other nurses know if you need anything," she said before she left with a sad smile.

She wasn't the same nurse I had since I've been here. Why did I have to be so mean to her? She just wanted to help. Fuck!

I laid back down, and as much as I wanted to crawl into a ball, and feel sorry for myself I couldn't because my ankle was in a cast and my body, especially my butt, still hurts.

So instead I laid out like a starfish, not even knowing what I was waiting for, or if I was even waiting for anything, to begin with.

Moments passed, who knows how much, before the nurse I had since I first got here came back.

"Hi, sweetheart how you doing." what's up with all the nurses constantly calling me sweetheart that's annoying.

She gave me a check-up, basic things like using the stethoscope to listen to my heartbeat, then with that highly annoying flashlight thingy she used it to look into my eyes.

"Okay, everything is looking good. You lost a lot of blood their buddy, but it seems like your doing fine now. I'm gonna go get you some food, we need you to heal as fast as possible."

"I'm not hungry."

"Okay I'll bring you something light cause you need to eat something, your body needs nutrients to help it heal."

"I'm not hungry," I repeated, making sure to slowly pronounce each word this time.

"Are you sure," she said waiting for me to reply but I didn't. I said I'm not hungry I don't understand what's so difficult for her to comprehend.

"I'll just bring you some apple juice and crackers." and with that, she left the room before I even had a chance to oblige.

Time moves really slow in hospitals. And finally, after many hours of random nurses coming in to check up on me, which I hate, a few force-feedings, and a couple of terrible naps, an actual doctor came in.

"Hi, Zero, right?" umm aren't you a doctor, you are supposed to know what your patience's name is.

I shook my head yes.

"Great I'm Dr. Crawford, nice to meet you."

I didn't say anything to reply to him because, to be honest, it's not nice to meet him, I don't want to be here I want to be dead.
