Dwayne's POV:
I skated after her as I swung the lasso over my head. I let go of the ring, letting it all over her as I skated over to her. I wrapped my arms around her as she looked up at me with a smile, "Why did I need a helmet for this?" She said with a smirk, "Well I wouldn't want my darling getting hurt because of me." I replied as I unclipped her hemet and pulled it off her head slowly making sure I didn't hurt her.
She looked up at me with a smile as I pulled my gloves off and placed them on her hips. I watched her lips before I placed my cold lips against her warm soft ones, I felt her smirk into the kiss before releasing and taking my hand and pulling me around the ice.
The next day we had a game at another school and all headed for the bus at around noon that day. I had the window seat as Y/N sat beside me leaning against my shoulder half asleep. I knew that as soon as the bus started she would pass out so I didn't bug her. Charlie came on the bus telling coach he wanted back on the team as everyone got excited and Y/N didn't even know what was going on.
I chuckled to myself as I looked down at her as she tried to stay awake. The principal stepped onto the bus and told us that our scholarships will probably be taken from us. Y/N was still asleep so I leaned onto Charlie's and Russ' chair and asked them what was happening. He answered my question and I felt Y/N shoot awake as I felt the grasp she had on my hand grow tighter as she looked out the window trying to see what was happening. Everyone on the bus started standing up to leave and so did we.
Everyone listened from inside the bus as coach and the principal argued, coach stood up for us and the principal shot him down. The principal walked away as we all circled around coach, Y/N's grip still held onto my hand as Russ told Averman to shut up.
Y/N'S POV:
I felt my heart pounding as I stood around coach. I had a tight grip on Dwayne's hand, scared that I would lose him and that I would have to go home. I loved my family but they aren't the most supportive people on the planet. I felt numb for a few weeks, clinging onto Dwayne like he was dying but soon it was the bored meeting.
Everyone headed to the bored room in the school and stood beside the giant table with a bunch of adults sitting at it. I wanted to punch their smug faces but told myself it wasn't a game of hockey and to let it go. My hand was intertwined with Dwaynes as the principal asked for reconsideration. No one talked as I started getting pissed off. I looked across the room and saw Noah, he looked just as annoyed as me.
I gave him a confused look as we both stared back at each other, the eye contact was broken when the team's old coach walked through the doors and in front of us. My eyes followed the man as I was confused and I looked up to Dwayne who had a smirk across his face.
I shrugged and watched the man pass his case to the principal and take out a folder. He walked around talking about how they had no cause to take our scholarships away and it could turn into a lawsuit. I chuckled when he said he used to go to this school and now he is against them. After a few minutes they gave in and gave us our scholarships back.
I hugged Dwayne before looking back at Noah who had a slight smile on his face as the rest of the varsity team walked out. We walked out and the varsity boys started arguing with us, I rolled my eyes playfully at Noah as he did the same almost simultaneously. I slightly chuckled as they continued to argue and just ended up making them even madder.
The next few weeks were a lot of stuff about beating varsity, practiced with trash. We picked up trash from the side of the road as we skated by with our rollerblades. A few weeks went by and the game was just the next day, I was excited I thought we had a chance against varsity.
But one day coach gave everyone their goodwill games jerseys back, I stood there as everyone got their jerseys. the smile that was on my face a few seconds before completely wiped off. Everyone quickly noticed and looked to coach who pulled the last matching jersey out of the box and threw it over to me. I unfolded the jersey and saw my last name printed on the back and my number right underneath. A giant smile grew on my face as Dwayne skated up to me and wrapped his arms around me.
The next day I was walking through the halls towards the change rooms when my brother turned the corner, we both stopped in front of each other and stood in silence for a few long seconds that seemed to never want to end. "May the best team win." Noah said, breaking the silence as he extended his hand for me to shake.
I hesitantly shook his hand and he nodded before walking away. I stood in shock for a second before continuing towards the locker room.
