In the days leading up to half term Rowan and Piper messaged a lot, mostly about nothing: the shadow man following Rowan and the Santana Park council being corrupt.
After school Friday, Piper caught the train while Rowan tried to make his room tidier and his hair spiky again.
Once the sun rose on Saturday Piper had gotten into Spring Valley and met Rowan, dumped her bags in his living room and went to the waterfall.

Piper hadn't changed much, she'd always have a lot of eyeliner and her hair would always cover it, but her hair took like a year to grow an inch so she couldn't do much.

"Did you die on the train?" Rowan asked her.
"Yea. It was kinda scary, I've never gone that far on my own." She said, "But the closer I got to here the nicer everyone was, it was weird. Eleven you said you wanted?"
"Yea, how long we got?" Rowan asked.
Piper looked at her phone and said,
"No minutes."
They planned to meet Micheal at maccies at eleven so went over.
"I guess you've not done any music since I left?" Piper asked.
"Uhh, nah." Rowan stumbled, "Not felt it, u know. You?"
"I'm the same as you man, nothing."

"Micheal!" Piper laughed as they got to Maccies. He and Kate were sat on an outside table.
"You two still together then?" Piper joked.
"Yea." Micheal laughed.
They all ordered their usuals and caught up a bit, talking about how fun it used to be and how they were now. Although it was a little awkward, Micheal was always good at filling awkwardness.
"Are there any coconats in Sanatan?" He asked.
"Jesus shut up." Rowan laughed.
"I've not tried to summon them, and I left the hook behind. Should I try?" Piper asked, "If you see a bunch running to the road you'll know why." Her laughs seemed half baked.
"You okay?" Kate asked.
"Yea, just, not slept a lot." She answered.

"Are you gonna go to the valentines thing?" Micheal asked the two, "Just for fun?" He added, careful about it.
"Valentines thing?" Rowan asked.
"The academy's doing a party in the hall." Kate told.
"Ew, no." Rowan said.
"Yea no thank." Piper added, "Bet you two are going."
"Yea." Kate smiled, holding Micheals hand.
"Can we go back to yours I'm tired, I didn't really sleep on the train." Piper asked Rowan.
"Nah can we stay out longer, I wanna show you something." Rowan said, not wanting Piper to see the state of his room.
"...I guess."
They left the love birds and went to the waterfall.

"I'm gonna touch the sky." Rowan said proudly.
He showed Piper the two pair of jet boots.
"What?" Piper asked.
"I've been flying up, and I'm gonna touch the top of the sky." He sat down and played with the boots.
"Do you wanna come?" He asked.
"Um..." Piper sighed, "Tomorrow, dude. I'm gonna... fall if I fly now."

And so the two laid on the mountain and watched the sky they didn't believe in. Piper could feel herself drifting off but made sure not to. Her wooly hat saved her face from the wind. They couldn't tell how much time passed before the clouds got dark and it started raining.
They took shelter under some trees as the rain got loud and heavy, but and they were still getting a little wet. Frogs were coming out to enjoy the rain and birds took cover in their nests. Rowan saw the sky clear of life quickly.
"Can we just go back to yours?" Piper asked.
Before he could argue against it, in the corner of his eye, Rowan saw a figure. He spun to see nothing but trees and rain. Piper just watched him confused and half awake. After a moment of stillness, Rowan spoke.
"I saw him." He whispered.
Piper felt awake now and followed his gaze but saw nothing either. The two were on edge and Rowan saw through the rain a figure. He ran up to it and threw a heavy punch, but nothing was there.
"I saw him!" Rowan yelled to no one.
He let out his anger through a hard punch to a tree before leaning against it.
Piper just watched him.
He took a deep breath and stood up straight.
"Let's just go to mine then." He sighed.

Rowan let Piper in. He had two beds in his room from when he used to shared the room with Sayle.
Piper didn't mind the mess and got comfy in the other bed while Rowan sat on the carpet and put a cd in the player.
"Field gave me this, it's really good, you'll like it." He said, pressing play.
Only minutes later Piper had fallen asleep.

"...are you awake?" Rowan asked quietly after a few tracks had played.
He didn't get a response.
"Oh." He sighed to himself.
His room felt smaller then it used to, more cozy. His window cover hid the dark sky and the lamp gave the room a warm inviting air. It was like how it used to be.
But Rowan couldn't figure out why he felt so sad.

Eventually he turned everything off and went to bed. He stared at the ceiling for a while, unable to sleep. It wasn't like he was trying.
