Rowan and Piper enjoyed the calm empty night. They climbed out Rowans window and sat on the roof, with a better feeling.
"It hit me, a while ago." Piper said softly, "We don't know what the stars are. Saying they're burning balls however far away, it takes the fun out of it. Don't you think?"
"They could be anything." Rowan said.
For all they knew they could be, and it felt freeing. They figured the better feeling came because things were happening. If they did go on the run, if the world was ending, at least it wasn't boring.
Rowan looked to his hands, then back to the stars.
'I am no one.' He thought, and it made him smile.

It was the brightest day of the year and Leon brought their playlist. Everyone made their way to SunGlass City by midday, Racer was ready to fly.
It had armour of metal sheets and limbs of tubes and cargo trousers, and Tom signed a smily face on its chest.

Piper had the honers of being the pilot. Rowan strapped her limbs in place and zipped her up, burying her in the character.
She walked about easily if not a bit heavily. Keeping up right over mud and rocks, making her way to the parting. She watched everyone cheer and bounce around her through the visor, happy seeing Racer come to life.
She took off slowly, with a lot of sound and fuel. Rowan followed her up. Twenty feet. Thirty, forty. She held Rowans hands with Racers big gloves and after a bit, they lowered back to the ground.
"RACER!" Everyone cheered.
Piper flipped up the visor to hear the birds singing.

Later, everyone took turns to fly about. Bursting up and hovering back down. Past the treetops and around the opening, getting used to flying.
Rowan brought his gopro and everyone filmed each other flying up and balancing in the air.

Wolf and Leon played in the air while the others laid across their city.
"Here you are Jude." Tom handed Ire a daisy chain.
"What is that?" Piper asked, "Jude?"
"I dunno." Tom shrugged it off.
"What she calls me. It was like year three." Ire explained, "We were doing the planets and we decided: Tom's Mars, I'm Jupiter, which turned into Jude, and Wolf's Venus. But she didn't like Venus."
"Jude-ipter." Piper said.
"What would I be?" Rowan asked.
"Uranus." Everyone said at once.
Rowan laughed along, what else would they say?

Ire and Piper flew a bit next.
"We still not names the bird." Wolf said.
"We've still not named Leon." Rowan joked.
"What if it's Bie." Tom suggested, "Bie Zom, so when the read it out it says zombie!"
"Genius." Rowan laughed.
"Bie?" Leon thought, "That's not bad."

Next Tom wanted to fly, but Ire was worried.
"Maybe just, later yea?" She said.
"I can do it." Tom assured her.
"I know... but I don't know if you should."
"Jude!" Tom put her foot down, "Why won't you let me do anything?"
"I... wh- I..."
"I always just followed you like I'm a shadow, I can do stuff on my own." She said.
"What if you fall? What if you crash- or- or- "
"Jude. Please."
Ire let go and Tom flew up.

As it got later Rowan felt it right to try and catch lightning again.
"Even if it's like last time-" Wolf began.
"I know-"
"It's not a thing, there's nothing online." Ire told.
"Then we'll be the first." He grinned.
"You're crazy." Piper smiled.
"No." Rowan looked at his friends, "No we're amazing."
They couldn't move from his cheesy grin, so let him go.

Tom and Ire had written a rain song for this moment, and got everyone else to sing a bass line:

Hom Bah!
Who Hah!

"♪ Bom Fah! Poo Tah! ♪" They all chanted similar sounds and Ire sung her part:

♪ Dod yr cawr
Gyda glaw! ♪

It was magic, because it began to rain, and as the kids laughed and leapt through it it grew stronger until thunder clouds came above them.
"There we go." Rowan laughed. He stood proudly.

He walked a bit away to an elevation and waited.
He held his thumbs, ring fingers and pinky fingers together and breathed deep. He felt his shoulders and he let go, he felt his finger tips and he let go, he felt his place in the world and he let go of keeping it. He liked the rain hitting his skin, it helped him stay grounded.
His fingertips gleamed and his stance widened. The sky let down a bolt to the boy and he joined it. Playing as lightning. Twisting with it down his palm and around to his side, guiding it back up with his other hand. It struck down to the ground just meters away.
It flickered out around his body and he straightened back up.

After the moment of shock or disbelief his friends cheered and ran to him, dancing and jumping around.
"DUDE!" Piper laughed.
"WE CAN CHASE LIGHTNING!" Tom yelled.
"WE CHASE THE LIGHTNING!" They all called out to the sky, jumping and reaching for it.
Dancing up and over hills. Through the rain and cold they were happy and warm.
Rowan played with lightning in the electric night Tom kept in her infinite mason jar.
