It was a calm night when Rowan decided to fly. He got gasoline from a dodgy shop near the beach and filled the boots.
He'd flown before. Knowing this made it easier to start, but he wanted to touch the sky, which is so much higher then he'd gone before.

Rowan got to the opening in the trees and the boots began as they used to, shaking and rumbling but now with the added smell of a petrol station. Rowan was liftet a few feet up and stayed. He moved his feet about, getting used to moving about in the air. He went left and right, forward and back, until he felt comfortable doing so.
So next he went up. He got level with the tops of the trees, a few dozen meters up. His head poked out the tree line and he was given a better view of the town he grew up in.
He went a little higher and above the trees now, waving his arms around to keep balance. But at a point he called it a day and slowly lowered himself back to the floor.

He had to catch his breath through laughter at what he'd just done and what he could do if he carried on.
But he went home and to school the next day.

Nothing happened and he saw Micheal at the end of the day.
"Micheal." Rowan said as he got closer, he recognised someone he was talking to.
"Hey..." Rowan said to the girl with a pony tail... and a daisy chain on her head.
"Oh, hi." The girl said.
"You know each other?" Micheal asked.
"No he was just in exclusion." The girl said.
"Well this is Rowan." Micheal introduced.
"I know, Jafar."
"Don't call me that."
"This is Ire." Micheal told Rowan.
"Aren't there two more." Rowan said smiling to himself.
"Because we're never apart." Ire sighed.
"Hey!" Her friend called from across the quad.
There were two girls: Wolf was tall and had a daisy chain at home on her black hair.
Tom was the shortest of all of them, although she was the oldest besides Piper. She too had a daisy chain, along with a headband in her dark hair, which she's wear when she didn't have hair clips; never being seen without one or the other.
Micheal introduced them and told their names. Rowan was confused when Micheal said the shorter one was called Tom, but he just went with it.
"...so what's going on?" Rowan asked Micheal.
"Oh, y'know, I'm waiting out for Kate." He told.
"Yea." Rowan said on autopilot.
"Ok we've gotta get the bus." Ire said, "See ya."
"Bye!" Wolf waved her and Tom off.
"Ok. Well, I'm going." Rowan said and spun around.
"Which way?" Wolf asked.
"Bill Manks way." He told looking back.
"I live that way." She said.

And so Rowan and Wolf walked the same way home because it would be rude not to even though it was as awkward as anything.
"So..." Wolf sighed, trying to break the silence, "What was it with the clocks?" She came up with. Rowan wasn't expecting it so panicked.
"Um... nothing, no nothing." He said.
"I mean, like were the clocks evil or was it... just a you thing?" She asked.
"Um, I don't wanna talk about it." He said to kill the conversation.
This just made her more curious as to what happened, knowing that he was hiding something.

"Achoo." Someone said.
The two kids stopped to see who just said the word 'achoo'.
"Did..." Wolf started but saw Rowan just as confused as her.
They both turned around slowly and saw a blur disappear into some bushes. So Wolf ran up and Rowan followed a little slower.
"I might have seen these guys before." Rowan said quietly.
"There it is!" Wolf yelled, pointing to a small thing shuffling away from them.
Rowan caught up and saw it. A small mushroom with legs. It turned to see the kids, showing its face. It had baggy eyes and a big nose and its mouth dropped at the sight of two giants looking at it.
Rowan and Wolfs mouths dropped too at the sight of a mushroom with a face.
The mushroom spun around and ran off with its tiny legs.
"QUICK!" Wolf yelled and ran after it. Rowan followed as the two ran through trees and grass after this stupidly fast mushroom man.

They ran straight into the mushroom mans trap, the ground gave way and they fell at least a foot because they were too big for the trap. They fell over and the mushroom man got away.
"Wow..." Wolf started laughed while sitting herself up.
Rowan got up quickly.
"Bye." He said and rushed home, leaving Wolf under the tree.
