Rowan and Piper first met in year six. They were in different school but both went to what everyone called 'orchestra' which was just different schools coming to perform together.
He was on violin and she was on clarinet, what more can I say.

During a break is when Rowan first saw Piper.
"Hey, you look like Charlie and Lola." Rowan said in his high pitch baby voice.
"What?" Piper asked, her voice sounded similar.
"You look like Charlie and Lola." He laughed.
She was new and alone so he invited her to play blocky (or forty forty as Wikipedia knows it) with his friends there.

In year eight, their side of the year took a science trip to Bodilloch Secondary School, where they finally learnt where the orchestra was. They recognised the hall, so slipped away to where their favourite night was and the magic they gave it was ruined.

January 9th 2016

Rowan, Piper and Micheal formed Rats In Autumn. Rowan and Piper singing and with guitars and Micheal on drums (and cajon outside of school)
They had stupid outfits from cheap shops. Rowans baggy blue coat had extreme lapels and he found knock off epaulettes to wear. Piper had a blue cross zip jacket, and Micheal a big blue waistcoat. They were blue incase you couldn't tell. They also had blue trousers.
They'd keep the outfits in a locker and put them on whenever they practiced after school, where they'd mostly play songs by Toh Kay, although Micheal didn't know who he was.

When Rowan began year seven, the academy was still considered a school.
Everyone from orchestra met again and would hang out.
Thanks to events Rowan can't remember anymore, he was going out with Summer, although he didn't know what it meant. It didn't go anywhere and lasted four hours. What he felt he wouldn't describe as 'feelings', and not for Summer, he would only know more thanks to Hunting A Mushroom Man, which would form two years after; he still had Rats In Autumn to live through.

August 15th 2016

Rats In Autumn lasted a few months, Micheal got tired of the same songs and Rowan and Piper didn't care much for a band of two.

The three of them lived in Spring Valley, and over the summer between year eight and nine they built the waterfall. I say 'built' but they just cleaned the space and found chairs from skips around town to put there.
They'd stay there into year nine where they'd see a coconat, which you've already read about.

One by one the group from orchestra disbanded, until it was only Rowan, Piper and Micheal left by the end of year seven.
Rowan showed Piper Toh Kay, an artist he loved, and Piper gave Rowan The World Vs. Me, a comic she loved.
Over that summer Rowan read The World Vs. Me religiously, and Piper would learn all the lyrics in The Hand The Thieves from listening to the songs nonstop.
Rowan wanted nothing more then to get his hair as spiky as the lead in the comic, and on first day of year eight, strode in with his new spiky hair.

March 10th 2014

There was Kevin Mutton, Eva Heart, Syrin Wally, Summer Beth, the Buckley twins, Micheal Shmicheal, Rowan Aboat and Piper Pan. (Most of them aren't important).
Syrin was the kind of kid to talk about seeing fairies and gnomes, and the Buckley twins were probably inbred.
They were the cool kids in orchestra that didn't practice. Instead they'd spend the breaks playing manhunt or having water fights in the bathroom.

In a stunt to impress the girls, Rowan brought a pie in and set a trap for it to fall on the next person to open a door. He was hoping Kevin or Micheal, but their conductor was the unfortunate one.

He and Piper were caught and sent to wait at reception for the conductor to clean himself.
Waiting for the conductor and their parents to come in and scold them wasn't something they liked the sound of, but Piper would've stayed if Rowan did ask her,
"Do you wanna get out of here?"
And they did.

They escaped through a window and sat behind the hall overlooking the green fields of nowhere.
When they were this age they didn't know where anything was, so where they were was outside of what they knew, and they both agreed it was a cool feeling. Better then throwing water and hiding in lockers. They stayed for a while, enjoying the nothingness in the air.
