In the sunshine, in the steady breeze that touches so gently, Kate was resting, her body was sprawled across a picnic blanket in the back garden in a similar manner as to how her eyelashes were resting across her cheeks; so effortless, so carefree, so at peace. Her heart relaxed into a steady tempo as she allowed herself to feel the birdsong in her soul.

Many trees soared overhead, the chorus of their green leaves rustling as they danced in a celebratory wind, each of them ignited by the early evening sunlight.

This week, in particular, had been rather tiring for both Kate and Leo, for they had been working non-stop from Monday through until Saturday; Sunday was their only rest day.

Leo had spent the most part of the day preparing a dinner for the both of them and had subsequently taken to the patio to catch up on his reading, tuning in to the sounds of the world go by as well as Kate's gentle snoring on the lawn.

A smile spread across his face at the arcadian nature of his house at that moment, nothing has even been this idyllic before. Not even the time they skimmed stones at the beach or drank tea after playing in the snow all afternoon or even when they fell asleep together in the hammock on the porch, the one Leo was sat in now. This moment; right here, right now, was the epitome of idyllic.
However, as sad as it is, in any case, L. Frank Baum, is correct "Everything has to come to an end, sometime." Even the most idyllic of things, along with Kate's afternoon nap.

Placing his book on the netting of the hammock, Leo rose to his feet and began to tiptoe down onto the grass, listening to the creak of the decrepit steps as he did so. The grass moved in a steady current, those long heads of golden seed as calming as harbour waves.

There was something about it, their movement synchronized yet independent, their hues so close yet so unique. And they danced, bringing forth the song of crickets and the chirps of birds content to be warmed by gentle rays in a way that accentuated the sublimity of the day.

"Katie, sweetheart?" he tickled her chin and feathered a kiss into her hair.
She gradually began to stir,  writhing on the blanket and twisting  her body in an attempt to stretch. Her eyes opened and her gaze immediately set on Leo.

"You still sleepy?"

"Yeah" she replied, almost whining "Why did you have to wake me up?"

"Because you won't sleep tonight if I let you carry on sleeping, darling."

"Oh." She sat up and shuffled into Leo's arms, breathing in the scent of his shirt; the sea salt and sandalwood mingling together.

"I'm sorry love. But hey! I'm cooking us chicken for dinner!"

Her eyes lit up at the mention of her favourite food and she smiled into his chest.

"I can't wait to eat it, darling."

"I'm glad, Katie. I'm glad."

A moment of hugging in silence followed  before she spoke. And as she did, she slightly pulled away from him.

"Leo, can we go inside please?"

"Of course."

Leo found his feet and bought Kate up with him, holding onto her waist as if he was afraid that she'd leave him.

They made their way up to the patio, Kate carrying the blanket and Leo carrying his book after picking it up from the hammock.

As the evening casts her dusky gown and when the air becomes fresh and restful, the time of joyful reflection arrives.

For the achievements of the day are a form of self pride that warms the soul, that is a sense of happiness. It surpasses the term "Idyllic" as a matter of fact.
