𝐆𝐑𝐄𝐄𝐍 & 𝐁𝐋𝐀𝐂𝐊

Eirene laid in her bed, aching. she had been returned from battle for three days, with minimal wounds, surprisingly. her stitches tore and the wound widened, she had a torn muscle in her shoulder, bruising along her ribs from her belt and a dislocated wrist.

although Stormcutter got the brunt of it.  unlike her, Stormcutter had broken bones, dislocations and pulled muscles. the fins of his tail were badly burned and he couldn't move them, although he didn't require them to fly. the edges of his wings were singed, and a large tear ripped through the right one, rendering him flightless for the rest of his life.

and his neck, was the worst. torn down to the bone, his flesh was wide open and only seemed to worsen as the days went by, festering and bleeding out every time he moved.

Stormcutter would not live.

tired of laying in bed, Eirene lifted herself from her covers, wincing with the ache of her bruises and burning muscles, but she pushed past it all.

despite her maids discouragement, Eirene ordered them to help her dress. once she wore a red and black dress of her house colours, she began to limp towards Rhaenyra's office. the guards were hesitant to open the doors, not thinking she would appear, but they did anyways as she didn't seem to turn away.

"the Hand, Lady Baela." one of the guards announced.

Eirene's brows furrowed. she had been expecting Rhaenyra, but instead, she limped inside to see Baela sitting at her own desk, her face pulled into shock. Jacaerys stood in front of her, his lips fallen slack as his jaw opened in shock.

"don't look at me like that."

Jacaerys closed his mouth and shook his head, rushing towards her to take her arm gently, guiding her down the steps as Baela rushed to pull up a seat. "what in Seven Hell's are you doing?"

"you sound like your mother." Eirene groaned, rolling her eyes as he forced her to sit.

"you should be in bed." Baela chastised, moving to grab her a cup to fill with wine.

"i don't want to." Eirene spoke defiantly. "it's boring and Milk of the Poppy makes me see things."

Jacaerys scoffed, watching the woman fall into her seat with a groan, tossing her head back as she winced. "you're unbelievable." he mumbled, taking the cup from Baela gently. he handed it over to her and Eirene grasped it, chugging it down.

"what are you two love birds quarrelling about then?" she asked, clearly hopped up on Milk of the Poppy and whatever wine she could get her hands on to ease the pain.

Jace and Baela flushed, stumbling over their words, looking for an answer despite their embarrassment. then, Baela gave up, "Jacaerys wants to go to the Twins to meet with the Freys and gain their alliance!"

"Baela!"

"sorry." Baela mumbled, sitting on the edge of the table, her face hot with embarrassment.

Eirene quirked a brow, glaring at Jacaerys who stared back at her. "okay." she shrugged.

"okay?" Baela repeated. she was expecting Eirene to blow her lid, but all she gained was a shrug.

"yeah," Eirene shrugged, "you're not my child, yes i have a responsibility over you but you will be fine. the only dragons the green now have are Dreamfyre and Vhagar. Helaena would never use Dreamfyre in battle, and Dreamfyre will listen to no one but my sister. which means, Vhagar must remain in Kingslanding to protect the castle from any potential onslaughts from us. you'll meet no dragon on your way, and you're more than capable of wielding a sword."
