𝐆𝐑𝐄𝐄𝐍 & 𝐁𝐋𝐀𝐂𝐊

with Ronaal on their side, Rhaenyra was gaining confidence in her abilities to create her new army of dragons. throughout it all, the dragons were a beacon of hope, and unfortunately, the only way to successfully win this war.

sometimes, you must fight fire with fire. especially when this fire comes from a two century old war machine who had already killed half their army and held the looming threat of killing more.

and as a result, she needed Targaryen blood on her side. only, all known Targaryens were taken by their own mounts, leaving two more unclaimed dragons to roam Dragonstone, awaiting companionship.

"i have nothing else to do, nowhere else to turn." Rhaenyra hissed, pacing back and forth across the grounds of her office. the candlelight provided a warm glow throughout the room, since the sun had set only an hour before, plunging the dark chamber into dusk.

the air was warm thanks to the continuous heat, and was causing a glow on each woman's skin. Eirene clasped her hands in front of her, glancing down at the ground. her grey robes scratched against one another at her movement, and Rhaenyra's attention was hastily brought to her.

"except for you." she covered. Eirene snorted, shaking her head as she walked away to pour both of them a drink. "

"but what of this, Addam of Hull?" Eirene questioned, looking away from the cups as she grabbed two. "when you spoke of him you mentioned how he seemed eager to serve under you, sister."

as usual, she would call her by her name or 'sweet sister', but in front of others she strived to keep her sister's image strong and to maintain the power she held as queen. the power of a monarch or matriarch only acts as power when it commands respect. and admittedly, Rhaenyra could sometimes be a little soft.

"i trust him, but i'm not sure if i should. alas, we must remain cautious until we know the time is right." Rhaenyra mumbled, twisting the hair besides her ears between her fingers.

Eirene hummed, turning back to the cups. she reached for the jug, and as she lifted it off the table, gentle footsteps echoed just to her right before they stopped by the pillar. "Jacaerys," she said lightly, recognising his footsteps, "would you like a drink?"

Jacaerys didn't respond, only, he looked through his hair at his mother as he remained by his aunts side. "the lowborn, claiming dragons. was it her idea?" he asked, an angered drawl in his tone. "Lady' Mysaria."

Eirene drew in a deep breath, wondering if she should stay or go. but as she turned with the cups in her hands, Rhaenyra was glaring at her. 'don't you dare', her face screamed. they both knew she was in line for another one of Jacaerys' overprotective or angered freak-outs, and neither of them wanted to be on the receiving end. although they both understood why he felt the way he did.

Eirene sighed and walked over, sparing an awkward smile at her nephew as she handed the queen her drink then took a seat on the edge of her desk. "you were eager enough when Ser Steffon made his claim." Rhaenyra hummed back, turning a page over in her book as she swirled the drink in her hand.

"he was the Lord Commander of your queen's guard. Heir to the Dun Fort. these people are-"

"courageous."

"mongrels!"

Eirene choked slightly and sent her nephew a harsh stare. he looked to her, expecting her to back him up like usual, but Eirene's face said it all. his frown grew greater and he turned on his heel, marching out of the room. Eirene turned to Rhaenyra and the woman called out to her son, stopping him.
