Chapter 34. Helping Hand

Faye's POV

"Faye! Good morning! Mabuti naman at nakarating ka na” Masayang pagbati sa akin ni Peah.

"Oo pasensya na at natagalan ako ha. Ang traffic kasi eh” I said.

"Naku ayos lang! Sino ba ang sinama mo?” She asked. Tumingin pa siya sa likod ko. Curious of who I am with.

Ngayon kasi gaganapin ang plano namin sa pet center. We had a lot of meetings and discussions of what we will do in the anniversary of the pet center. Excited na excited ako kasi first time kong maging parte ng anibersaryong ito.

I remembered Eva said to me that Ma'am Olivia always do some charity works, last anniversary the team went to home for the aged and offered foods for all the elders. Sabi nila its her way of showing gratitude that her business blooms and many people also helped her.

Siyempre our discussion ended with a
decision. We all agreed to help the organization we choosed this time. It is an organization that take care of abandoned and stray dogs. They are called as the 'StrayDog Feeders Team'.

We heard that they are currently in a poor state. Marami-rami na ang mga aso na inaalagaan nila at nagkulang na sila sa pagkain at iba pang gamit na kailangan ng mga aso at pusa. That's why we choosed to help them as part of our anniversary.

Sinabihan pa kami ni Ma'am Olivia na magdala ng mga kaibigan. Ika nga ni Ma'am 'The more, the merrier!'. That's why I invited Raine, hindi kasi makapunta ang mga kaibigan ko dahil sa kanya-kanya nilang mga gawain at trabaho. Mabuti nalang at pumayag si Raine.

I also invited Clyde, but he declined, as it will conflict in his schedule
May business trip kasi siya sa Bohol. He said he'll be gone for two weeks, which I already concluded that he cannot go with us. Ayos lang naman sa akin.

I smiled at Peah "My friend. Medyo matatagalan siya dahil na rin sa traffic.”

Tumango si Peah at sabay kaming pumunta sa area kong saan kami mag stay habang hindi pa kami magsisimula.

All of us, including the ones we invited will be wearing the same color shirt design.  We are all wearing a dark blue shirt with the pet center logo on the left side of our shirt. Sa likod naman nito ay nakalagay ang anniversary theme namin.

I decided to pair my shirt with a black jogger pants. Then I wear my nike air black shoes. I choose the simple and comfortable outfit, since marami kaming gagawin. Then, I tied my hair into a bun. I pulled some little hair to the side. Style lang ganern.

Ma'am Olivia clap her hands. So all of our attention are towards her. We gather in the front.

"All right! Good morning everyone. I assume we are not yet complete right?” All of us nodded in response.

Tila nakuha niya naman ang sagot namin at ngumiti. "Okay. I guess I'm right. So let's formally start the event with a little opening ceremony before we'll do our parts. Let's just wait for a few minutes before we formally begin” She said.

One by one guests and other people which are invited and volunteered arrived . Raine also arrived. Tila nagmamadali pa ito dahil hingal na hingal siya.

“Okay ka lang?” Tanong ko nang makita ko siyang hinihingal.

She nodded. "Yeah..Akala ko late na ako eh. Si Lu--este Boss kasi may pina send pa na email.” She said. She's som acting weird...

Hindi ko na lang inisip pa iyon at binigyan siya ng bottled water. “Kaya pala...Don't worry hindi ka naman late” I reassured.

Gaya ng sinabi ni Ma'am Olivia nagkaroon ng kaonting opening program. We first, started a prayer then Ma'am Olivia and Mr. Romuladez, the head of the organization gave an opening speech.

I was surprise dahil kumanta pa si Peah at sumayaw ang iba ko pang mga kasamahan sa trabaho, it's their surprise intermission number.

After the short opening program. Ma'am Olivia opened the door for us to get ready in cleaning and helping the organization.

We we're divided into groups and was given tasks. So that it will be orderly. Ako, si Raine, at iba ko pang kasamahan ay nakatoka sa pagwawalis at paglilinis ng mga kalat. Ang iba naman ay nakatoka sa pagpapaligo ng mga aso at pag-aayos ng mga sirang gamit.

I was busily removing some weeds, when someone suddenly gave me a handkerchief. “You should use this. You're sweating.”

The voice is somewhat familiar kaya agad akong napalingon sa kanya.

"Cly--” He used his hand to cover my mouth

"Shhh...”

Tinanggal ko ang kamay niya “What are you doing here!?” Gulat kong sabi at tumingin sa paligid. "I thought...”

"Well---I wanted to surprise you.” He smiled. Lumapit siya sa akin at bumulong "I missed you love.”

Napangiti ako.

He is wearing the same shirt like us which he paired with black jogger pants and white sneakers.

We continued to talk while pulling out some weeds.

"Kailan ka pa dumating?” I asked.

“Yesterday. Nakitulog lang ako sa condo ni Lucah. Oh! By the way, he's with me.” He said and tried to search him using his eyes.

"Lucah? Yung boss ni Raine?”

Boss ni Raine, na kaibigan ni Clyde at yung mismong taong pumunta sa condo ng lasing na kasama ni Clyde.

"Yup. I think something is going on between them. Hindi lang nila sinasabi”

Napatingin din tuloy ako sa paligid at hinanap si Raine.

I found Raine standing in front of Lucah, they are staring at each other. She seems shocked based on what I can see in her face.

Bumulong ako kay Clyde. “Tama ka, feel ko may something din sa kanila.”

Hmmm---Kung may something nga sa kanila, hindi man lang ako sinabihan ni Raine. Well, baka naman may reason din siya. Ayaw ko munang mag conclude. Pero if totoo, aba masaya ako dahil may love life na rin sa wakas ang kaibigan ko.

Clyde chuckled upon hearing my response and patted my head.  I smiled once again at him before pulling out the weeds again.

After a whole day of helping a hand in the organization we choosed. Ay nasabi ko sa sarili ko na ang sarap pala sa pakiramdam na makatulong man lang sa ibang tao o kahit sa mga hayop din. Nakakatuwang tingnan na marami-rami din ang nag volunteer sa project na ito at wala akong nakitang pagod sa mga mukha nila. Ang nakita ko ay galak at tuwa sa mga puso nila. Sharing blessings is not a bad thing after all.

Pagkatapos ng event ay nagbigay si Ma'am Olivia ng patapos na mensahe.

“From the bottom of my heart. Thank you very much to each one of you who volunteered and helped in making this day a successful one. To my employees, thank you so much for being with me for another year and happy anniversary. Cheers to more years of serving people and animals!” Nagagalak na sabi sa amin ni Ma'am Olivia.

“Wohoo!!!”

"Happy Anniversary!”

“Cheers to another year!!”

Labis ang kasiyahan na nadarama ko. Hindi lamang sa akin, kung hindi pati na rin sa mga ka trabaho ko. Its my first time to celebrate the anniversary of our pet center and it is a memorable one. Now its added on one of my most memorable moments in my life.
