Chapter Seven: "Bribe Jungkook."
ROSÉ WAS CURRENTLY in the Han River, riding her bike as the cold breeze of the night caressed her face. She wanted her members to accompany her but Jisoo wanted to sleep, Lisa wanted to watch her drama while Jennie was out somewhere, apparently a pyjama party with her friends.
Rosé sighed. It was her wish to visit the place, in the middle of the night, with someone she loved, and just stare at the river and the starry sky. But that didn't seem like it would happen soon.
Rosé had not realised when a bike opposite her, was coming in her direction. Her eyes widened as she swerved the bike, slightly to the side, halting. The bike rider had also evidently tried to stop them from colliding because he stopped in his tracks as well. The man, around 5'11, got down from his bike and walked over to her who had stepped down from her as well.
She made sure her mask covered her properly before turning to the man who was accompanied by another bike rider. "I'm sorry, are you alright?" he asked. Rosé frowned. He had a white mask and a green cap on and his physique seemed really familiar. She then looked behind to see the other man who was in a black mask and a busker hat and it hit her.
"Namjoon oppa?" she asked the man in front softly.
Upon hearing her voice, Namjoon's eyes widened in realisation as he removed his mask, showing her his face.
"Chae? It's you?" he asked for confirmation.
"Yea, didn't expect to see you here."
Rosé hugged the leader in greeting. Did I mention she had gotten close to the other members as well? Well not that close but quite. They were comfortable enough with little physical contact. It was safe to say they were friends. It was funny actually. The member she texted the most was Jungkook but he was also the one she has never hugged before due to his shy nature.
Being from a Western country made physical contacts seem like nothing to Rosé as hugs were a form of greeting for them. But this was Asia, where people were more civilised as the internet put it when she was researching about the country.
The three idols greeted one another before settling down on a bench. "Chaeyoung-ah, do you usually come here?" Namjoon asked, opening up a water bottle.
"Sometimes, when I have time. It's not much coz I don't have company." she replied.
"Why not?" Jungkook asked so softly that Rosé almost missed it.
"The members don't like to bike, and it's kind of risky to have my other idol friends accompany me since most of them are guys." she replied, taking a sip from her own bottle.
"Ahh, well my members don't like to either, I had to bribe Jungkook to come here today" Namjoon said, making Rosé laugh.
"Bribe? With what?"
"Food."
Rosé burst out laughing. "Wow, my friends do that too. Food always gets the deed done for me."
"Maybe we should bike together Chae" Namjoon proposed to which she nodded, pleased to have a biking partner. He held out his fist which she bumped with her own.
-
"Hyung where are you going?" Jungkook asked, as Namjoon came out form his room, wearing a dry-fit tee with black shirts and shoes.
"Biking."
"Wow, you've finally decided to go yourself," Jin mused from the couch.
"Nah I just found myself a new biking partner."
"And who's that?" This time it was Jimin. What's with all the questioning today?
"Chaeyoungie." he replied shortly before waving to the rest of them, walking out of the dorm.
"Chae bikes?" Yoongi asked, looking up from his phone.
"Yea apparently." Jungkook said, almost sulking.
"What's with you Mr. Grumpy?" Jimin asked, sitting next to Jungkook and throwing his legs on his lap. Jungkook gave him a dirty look but Jimin ignored it, happily resting his feet on the maknae.
Jungkook had just been enthusiastically talking about the drama they were rewatching but for some reason, his mood had made a 180 degree turn to a sour one.
"Nothing."
Jungkook couldn't understand himself. His hyung was cycling with a girl who was a friend to all of them. So why did he have the sudden urge to go there and grab Rosé?
He dialed her number but of course she didn't pick up. How could she when she was cycling?
-
"Is it getting any easier?" Namjoon asked as the two leaned against the railing, their bikes stopped by the tree.
Rosé nodded. After the denial from both agencies, things seem to die down a little bit nothing changed the fact that Jungkook bought Rosé's solo album. Now that her promotions were all over, it seemed to get better as haters were less obsessed with her.
"Call me if you need anything yea?" Namjoon said, putting an arm around her shoulder.
"I will" she promised, leaning against his side, her arm wrapped around his torso.
If Dispatch caught them now, they'll be doomed but what they don't know is that this is not a relationship between a boy and a girl. It was a relationship between a brother and a sister and people like Dispatch and sasaengs will never understand that kind of bond. If they did, idols like her won't be afraid to show affection to their friends.
Rosé took out her phone from her pocket and saw the missed call from Jungkook. She was going to call him back when Namjoon chuckled, looking at her phone over her shoulder.
"Why are you laughing?"
"I was wondering when he'll call you," Namjoon replied.
"Why did you expect him to?" she asked again.
"I thought I was seeing the start of something, I guess I was right," he replied evasively.
"Start of what?"
"Something..."
